The MM's were VERY stingy today! I placed a put spread order at .10 under the mid. Soon after that the mid went up another .10 or so and I still didn't get filled! I cancelled and upped my limit but chasing the market didn't get me anywhere. Try, try again I guess! ryan

I was able to calm my emotions yesterday and not force any trades. The longer my order went unfilled the more anxious I was feeling about "missing out". I realized my emotions were getting in the way as they were trying to force me into trading at higher strikes without looking at the big...

That is the hardest part for me to overcome, the missing out feeling. I tried getting into the 1120/1130 put spread earlier but couldn't get filled. I am now telling myself to sit back and wait, maybe until tomorrow before making another stab at it as my emotions are trying to take over today...

XSP starts trading today (mini SPX options). I know there has been some chatter here and on other boards about them but I haven't paid that much attention. What is the difference between the SPY and XSP other than American vs. European settlement? ryan

My thoughts exactly! I think the constructive criticism of this group is the best part. Anybody can throw out a real or potential trade and within a short time you get all sorts of feedback. I follow some other options boards on the net and this is by far the best. With my 1240/1250...

I got into a call spread at 1240/1250 for $.80. There was some good upward steam in the market today, that's for sure. I'm looking at put spreads and haven't decided where I want to be yet. ryan [/B]

My initial call spread was 1280/1290 so with the big drop in the market I was able to roll down and still keep a pretty big cushion between the SPX and my short strike. These gains help to offset my loss when I rolled down the puts and I was well in the black for the month. ryan

I rolled down my calls several times to bank profits as the market fell. I was forced (per my trading plan) to roll my puts down one time (for a loss) but all worked out well. I ended the month with a 9.9% gain after commissions (OX really loved me this month lol). ryan

Ask and you shall receive Phil. You must have had an inside tip on the oil inventories before you made your post lol! ryan

That is a pretty bold move with the calls, also on the puts as well (at least for me). There really isn't a catalyst on the horizon to shoot the market higher except for Phil's "last bear selling" situation. I don't think the jobs report if good will make the market take off but I think it...

I closed my 1230/1240 today so I can take another swipe at some premium on the call side. The market obviously has a downward bias right now so I want to roll down (1210 or 1215?) the calls to capture more premium. I rolled down my 1160/1170 puts to 1150/1160 but will that be enough for the...

With the amount of time to expiration are you going to take another stab at a bull put spread Phil?

I was thinking the same thing! I was watching the futures this morning and I was sure the market would run under 1180 at the open and I would make some adjustmens. The market knows I have to run out of the office for about 45 minutes and will wait until I leave before running lower lol! ryan

We closed just below the 1190 support on low volume. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts with the higher volume expected tomorrow and with some earnings starting to come in. I'm pretty nervous about my 1160/1170 spread as the market has shown its great ability to tank over the...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Per Bloomberg: "Program buying kicking in shortly before the close..." That last half hour or so was wild! I stepped out of the office for a little bit and got back with about 30 minutes left to the close. The SPX had dropped 10 points. Watched it climb back fairly quickly but still end...

I'm looking at the 1240/1250 but it makes me a little nervous as 1245 was a resistance point not too long ago. But now we are getting close to expiration I might change my tune, the delta on the 1240 is only .05 and is now about 50 points OTM (as I type this I am almost talking myself into it...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I was able to get out of my 1260/1270 call spread at $.10 earlier today, granted my spread is much closer. Late last month I closed a 1280/1290 spread for $.10 when the index was around 1215 that morning. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I don't. I have tried a number of times to get out at...
