Karen the Supertrader speaking at tastytrade ‘s Geeks on Parade

I don't go crazy and watch like a hawk, but I'm trying to get 1% per naked put using Tastytrade standard rules (45 DTE, close 50% profit target, roll for more time and more distance from the market about halfway of the life of the trade, I've added a close out at 1x loss). Other than what...

Why have you not made it as a trader yet?

Have you heard the Whipsaw Song by Ed Sakota? My understanding is typical trend trading strategies are only 30 to 40% winners. Bill O'neal and Larry Williams say that they are >50/50 because they add fundamentals to their decision making.

Are options inherently a short-term trade?

Why is this priceless? And BTW it's true. If you're controlling the T-0 line why is this not true?

Are options inherently a short-term trade?

I follow Ron Bertino of Trading Dominion and I've tweaked his base trade to where I enter a position from 90 to 180 DTE. It back tests well

When do you admit you are wrong?

I trade /ES and TOS does not let me put a GTC Stop-Loss on Options on Futures, so I have mental stops. I've learned to be disciplined enough to "Get-the-F-out" when I hit either a certain price level based on my short structure or 1x loss on premium collected. My stop price levels are kept track...

Why have you not made it as a trader yet?

SML, YES. I actually stayed in 2011 over and over again, until I dialed in what I liked. Even then I hired the system developer as a coach for a little more pointers. Then when I went live in mid-2019 and got stopped out, I tweaked the system a little more (make less risky). It's an OTM BWB...

Why have you not made it as a trader yet?

It's like a surfer riding a wave. Does a surfer have edge or does he just enjoy the ride?

Why have you not made it as a trader yet?

(Counting my chickens here, but...) I'm hoping 2019 will be my first profitable year. How I got to this point was, 1) After blowing up 4 accounts over a few decades, I finally got the point that position size and risk management is the key to survival [that was in 2017]; 2) I found a style that...

Karen the Supertrader speaking at tastytrade ‘s Geeks on Parade

Not a serious back test, because I didn't document the actual positions in a spread sheet. This is during Aug. 2015 crash. Around June 2015 I put on 1 short put every time a contract hit 56 DTE. I'm going from memory, but K. Bruton's strategy is 6 delta short put every 56 DTE. Let the...

    Does trendline work?

I don't know if trend lines work, but I like using them. I am a fan of Edwards' and Magee's, TA of Stock Trends. In the book markets are described as being in a Primary Trend, Secondary Trend and Minor Trend. Since I am not confident in my predictive TA skills, I am trying to develop my...

Selling Premium - Strategy Never Discussed

I did for a while, until I back tested 2013 and it was disastrous. When I got out of my /ES most recent short call I swore never to do that again. No amount of rolling / adjusting worked during the 2013 ragging bull move

Selling Premium - Strategy Never Discussed

I'm a smallish / newish / intermediate experienced options seller. Currently focused on selling /ES options (mostly Ron Bertino's STT OTM BWB). Even after getting stopped out in Aug. 2019 (if I count my chickens) I will end up positive in 2019 and this will be my first profitable year since...
