reversal to upside day shaping up

Excellent call. That's what's happening, and some nice gap downs and recoveries this morning.

    Wealth-lab versus TradeStation 2000i

Check out Investor RT: http://www.linnsoft.com Although I don't backtest tick-by-tick, I believe that is one of IRT's capabilities. Give them a call and they will confirm.

    Anything better than Stochastics???

Deviation from an MA is a much better indicator of overbought and oversold.

Career Advice - Let's Have Some Ideas

I read recently that a few universities are now offering study and degrees in homeland security. According to the WSJ, there are many jobs waiting with states and cities for those who graduate from the programs. Could be an interesting career.

    New Site

Assuming you really do want constructive criticism...the site is extremely busy looking. One problem is too many type fonts on each page. It would be well worth the expense to have a decent art director who does web work take a look at it and clean it up before you launch. Frankly, it just...

    Spreadbetting FTSE 100

Your questions indicate that you are indeed a newbie. And as such, you should not be trading with such a leveraged vehicle until you have thoroughly become familiar with your system and the instrument you want to trade. Leverage cuts both ways, and you will be in real danger of losing your...

Nasdaq topped on Apr 7th, 2003

We like to see people put their money where their mouth is. Please post the price at which you shorted the QQQ or NQ. If you didn't, then why are you bothering to post your predictions? B.S. walks. Trading talks.

    Why do they hate us?

That's it, pure and simple. A very unfortunate characteristic of being human is that we love to form groups and create an enemy. It is an unhealthy manifestation of our competitive spirit. And being the sole superpower with a very enviable standard of living makes us the perfect target...

To share or not to share

It is very unfortunate, but my experience with sharing information when asked has been uniformly negative. If I knew I was sharing with an experienced (or even intelligent) trader who could appreciate what I was giving him, I would be more open. But I suspect like many on this site, even when...

What is the difference between not having a bias to direction and DOUBT?

Wavetrader - I reference SPY as a proxy for the market, and use an RSI of SPY to help view the market as "up" or "down". Each day my systems look to whether SPY is up or down relative to recent price. I use RSI for this, as it tends to do well in measuring trend. I use an 8 day RSI 50...

Is this an answer of all pros to a rookies of any kind?

This is, without a doubt, the dumbest comment I have read on this site, anywhere.

Sentiment re: US Equities -- apocalypse coming??

That's why they call trading "Climbing the wall of worry", right? I can't recall a time...ever...when there wasn't at least five things to worry about. Pick five, at any time: Inflation deflation Fed Meeting Greenspan's briefcase Warnings season Warnings NO warnings Earnings NO...

    Poll: What's your favorite strategy?

Think there's one "best" way to trade the market? I'll wager that the results of this poll show otherwise.

    finding an edge...simple?

For those who think that it takes sophisticated indicators and convoluted math to create a system, here are the results from the past 12 months on a very simple system based ONLY a daily MA for entry and exit, and it is not optimized or curve fitted. It trades on a list of 250 stocks that are...

    Conspiricay Theory: Blueprint for War

You are absolutely correct. NOTHING in Iraq is worth what have gotten ourselves into, especially considering that there were other solutions to the problem. War is hell enough under any circumstances, and putting ourselves directly in the dead center of the hornets nest in the middle east is...

    long/short @ same time

How do you expect to profit from such a strategy? If it is in the 2 cents in the spread, it seems to me that's an awfully tiny profit for tying up the capital and the risk of being in the market. On the other hand, if you are hoping to leg out and have the position reverse for a profit, I...

    finding an edge...simple?

Yes, many, but not all. I suspect the problem systems are momentum and breakouts, because strength is being crushed quickly. But many long systems that exploit weakness and volatility are going great.

    long/short @ same time

If you are so undecided about the direction of the underlying stock, what the heck are you doing trading it in any fashion? There isn't a strategy in the world that will consistently make money for you if you don't know what you are trading and why. Well, yes, there is. As was said earlier...
