    Reporting results to family/partner

Best not to say anything, EVER, to family members. 30 years ago...that's right, 30 years...I recommended Cox cable to my parents, because it was the hot new technology, I was in the TV production business, and I had made a nice profit. Well my father waited and naturally bought at the high...

Is There Such a Thing as a CONSISTENTLY Profitable Trading System?

I think that much depends on how you define a system. I feel that I am as much a part of my system - if not more so - than my software and the markets I trade. It's for this reason that so many people fail with a system that another has created and profited from. How can you separate the...

    ATCO baby! (really cool stuff)

Wonderful! I suppose this means that someday soon I can go to the beach or the park without hearing some idiot's boombox blaring rap, salsa or heavy metal?

    Back to the Basics

Brandon, I think this is good, solid information for new traders. However, I feel that you have left out an important subject that is always at the top of the list for new traders, and that is time-frame. From my own experience in the past, and from talking with others who have survived and...

    New Trader

The very best thing you can do is take part of your funds and purchase a good software package for backtesting before you begin trading anything. I recommend Investor RT because it is fully functional, yet fairly easy to learn. Backtesting will help you to learn for yourself, in a safe...

    Is the Rally almost over??

If you have been profiting from shorts for the past two years, I submit that you might want to start reconsidering your short strategies. IMHO, there is a lot of new found support out there for any sign of weakness, and pullbacks are short lived. The key sign of a new bull market. Just my...

Market is tougher than George Foreman!?!

In December 1996 Greenspan gave his famous "Irrational Exuberance" speech, warning against buying into an ever rising market. The market continued rising for another 40 months. So the answer to your question is: There ain't no answer.

    Everytime you adapt to changes

Sorry, but I beg to differ. Anybody who can write like that without making any sense whatsoever has a great future publishing trading books.

    Look at these results!!!

Just trying to be helpful. What you have is a start in the right direction...as I buy weakness in a number of forms...but you need to nail the other 10 months. Trading the hard right edge, you have no idea when the market is going to roll over on you. So what are you going to do when your...

    Look at these results!!!

I hate to burst your bubble, but that attitude will get you into very big trouble. Your system is useless until first proven robust in a number of market conditions. Further, in the time period you tested you could have thrown a dart at a list of stocks and made a good profit.

    THE MARKET WIZARD THREAD

What I found was that it is easy to confuse brains with a bull market. Now, if he was to follow up with interviews on what these "Wizards" have done since April 2000...(other than running web sites!)...well, that would be a heck of a lot more interesting.

    Wal Mart Closes $1.59 Lower

Yes, and unfortunately a heck of a lot of white collar heros are struggling, too. Wall Street Journal recently reported that the spread between white collar job seekers and help wanted ads is the highest in 30 years.

how come u guys pretend to know it all?

Damn, Point Man, that's my trading system. Who gave you the pivot points for the negatives and the positive?? Now all these rude newbies have found the Holy Grail.

    proof...

Can money be made in the markets? Of course. Can it be made by you? Who the hell knows. From your posts, I most seriously doubt it. "Past performance is no guarantee of future results." Why do you think this statement is written at the bottom of every type of investment or trading...

    Verifiable Scalping Records

Please post a verifiable statement of your account balances so members here can determine if you are worth the time. Isn't that similar to what you are asking? Duh.

Very Little Opportunity Day Trading Stocks

I'm with you, TraderJim. I have yet to find, or hear from, an S&P trader who is booking the kind of profits I enioy from stocks. I've asked...even offered to trade system alerts...information, whatever. I may well be wrong, but I just don't see consistent profits in it that are equal...

    Lack of violent short squeezes

This kind of action in my experience feels like we are near a top. Look at the volumn in the past few weeks on SPY. Buyers and sellers nearing equilibrium. No big commitment either way. Now the big questions are, how quickly will we correct, and how far? And what will push us over the top?

High Win/Loss gives you a better feel?

The fact that you can beat the market averages does not mean the market is inefficient. It simply means that there is someone on the other side of your trades who is suffering from your system's efficiency. For every trader who is enjoying a nice income and lifestyle, there are 10 others who...
