There is no explanation there. He just gives the rule I stated. He has another formula: Moving Average Length = 1 + CycleLength/2, but I don't see the connection of that with my question. :confused:

Bozwood, I use the telescan stuff sometimes at http://www.wallstreetcity.com. I regard their backtesting as a joke. You get a single graph of how they say your portfolio will have grown or shrunk if you ran the screen every month for 12 months. No sell rules can be entered.

Tom, I don't understand how your idea can be implemented. I test a database of over 7000 stocks for trading opportunities. Earnings per share change every quarter. It doesn't seem practical to hard code such data into a backtest.

I downloaded 2 videos and a manual from the LIM site. I haven't seen any sign that they handle fundamental data with their MIM software. So far it is just OHLC-Volume stuff which you can also backtest with Wealth Labs, AIQ and some others. AIQ lets you screen with fundamental data. However...

What is LIM? Have a URL? The kind of things in your description does not sound like backtesting a stock buying/selling strategy, to me. Maybe the brokerage firms have their own software and use the LIM database. That doesn't really solve my problem. But thanks for trying.

Although your trailing stops would be held by and executed through ARCA, the execution of your order would not be limited to it crossing with another ARCA participant's order. ARCA can execute orders against Market Makers as well as other ECNs, so using it for trailing stops works pretty well...

Sorry Commisso about your bad experience with Cybertrader. You seem to be describing a difficulty with doing something interactively. Have you had an opportunity to judge if trailing stops or other orders that are left on their servers are handled well?

Doesn't sound as useful as Cybercorp. It wouldn't be a good idea to restrict all my selling or buying short to ARCA, I think.
