IB refuses to answer problem ticket so how about you guys???

starting to make a little more sense...i see you have -174.00 in accrued interest, which is what i expected was making up the imbalance... now turn the accrued interest column on under the MARKET VALUE panel i'm guessing you were taking large long USD positions against the EURO? that...

IB refuses to answer problem ticket so how about you guys???

looks to me like you are missing the Accrued interest column under the market value panel. right click on the column lables (where it says currency, cash, etc.) and select configure. check the box that says 'accrued interest' and see if that doesn't make sense of your problem.

Nikkei down 30% in 7 months...

i don't pretend to know much about japanese culture, but i think sometimes about how strongly they experience shame... in america you have something like the tech bubble, but the risk taking spirit prevails: americans just pick up the pieces and try again - hence you have a 2 year bear market...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

    Death by 1000 Cuts

hi nik, i definitely understand your point about the difficulty of trading a system you don't have faith in, but there is nothing tested here. huge winners are a function of the nature of markets, not any kind of entry or exit parameters. i am completely confident the system can produce...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

thanks for the idea mogul. i find chasing the momentum leads to getting stopped out on retracements, so i'm playing more of a top picking game, which is why i am getting stopped out so frequently. i will think about your strategy incase i grow the account and find myself trading multiple lots...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

thanks for the reply. i have no hard targets per se. i will cover into any kind of capitulation in my direction once i think the position has run long enough. agreed about regret, but there is nothing easy about this methodology. if i don't take my profits until they are giant and always...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

hi doli, thanks for the question. i mean that as hyperbole... i do intend to realise profits, but not until they grow very large... so for example i might stop out a dozen times getting long the YEN, or short the YM or whatever position...but when i get into a position thats a...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

looking to enter some form of long YEN on the sunday night open - in my experience it is a good time to get into positions that don't retrace too heavily. also looking to go long some SPY puts, but I want to wait until we complete a nice bullish pattern to suck in some more buyers.

needless to say, took a small hit again trying to get short the YM. trying again with the YEN tonight...my conviction is still strong that this market is headed lower. will keep trying to nail it with small stops until i hit the big one or blow out trying. death by 1000 stops.

    Death by 1000 Cuts

Stopped out at the Tokyo open. Trying again with the YM. 10 point stop. Also marginally in the money for a +/- 20 point stop. If i stop out of this one, calling it quits for the night, will try to get one sold in the AM.

okay, short USD/JPY here (long yen) at 106.25. 10 pip stop at 106.35. position is 10 pips in the money, so effective 20 pip stop at this point. i had been wanting to sell the FED rally for days, but was at work when it happened :( don't want to chase YM short here, because i'm worried...

If good news but stock does nothing...

more likely that the news was already factored into the price...or there is some other underlying reason people aren't buying...if a stock (or market) fails to rally on good news, you might consider it a short imho
