    different markets and personality traits

I think that the central point to trading is you must be autonomous. That isn't to say you have to build your own trading system and reinvent the wheel, it means you must be able to control your decision and understand a system thourougly. For example if someone has visited my site, some will...

    Is intelligence important for trading?

Are people asking themselves if they can succeed in trading without any great diploma ? I think I have read studies about that: many sucessful traders are not among scientists although the scientists are at a good proportion. I will try to find it again.

    randomness may seem so unrandom...

If you think more thoroughly it isnot so contrary to common sense because why Nature would do justice ? This would mean some intentionality of social intervention from nature :)

    randomness may seem so unrandom...

What you describe here is related to the Levy Law discovered rather recontly (towards 1959 if my memory doesnot fail) which describes the persistence of chance or unfortune. Although the common sense would believe that during a very long play, periods of gain of each player is near 1/2 in the...

why don't the funds keep a maximum montly drawdown?

"A trader according to the Chicago legend, 'made 8 million in eight years and lost 80 million in eight minutes'. According to the same standards, he would be, 'in general', and 'on average' a good risk manager." Nassim Taleb, in DerivativesStrategy 'The Jorion-Taleb Debate'

why don't the funds keep a maximum montly drawdown?

It can also be the contrary. They can push the risk to the maximum since they use other's people money, because if they lose, they lose nothing, and the whole risk is for the client. In fact if they lose, they just can create another fund unless they already have several eggs in many baskets :)

    Globex

This the picture. I made a mistake : the low of 8440 was made during the afternoon, I wanted rather ask why "zombies" made the Dow shoot from this low as target was met at night :) As for your question: sorry I don't understand what you expect. Do you want to ask me if I have access...

    Simplicity Rules!!

As I put it already don't mix complexity and complication :) If something is intrinsiquely complex, like human being or stock market, you can't reduce this complexity, you can just try to adjust a point of view so as to reduce the variable numbers necessary to a GOAL (for example trading)...

    Is intelligence important for trading?

Now I will say that it the inherent role of scientific communities to be closed minded: they have a conservative role to preserve existing and sound ideas against foolish ones. So this is a necessity from this point of view. But on the reverse you have not to be in a hurry to use new ideas and...

    Is intelligence important for trading?

Only exceptional scientists are discoverers : Einstein was a discoverer because he thought that "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Today most scientists only want to comply with some pure syllogism. If Syllogism was enough in...

    Is intelligence important for trading?

I am an engineer myself :) so what I said is not against my own corporation. Scientists are not god. In fact there have been many unscientific errors from them. For example they didn't give Nobel Prize to Einstein for his Relativity Concept but for his brownian motion because they were scared by...

    Tight Stops Nightmare!

You "want" but did you ask yourself if the Market wants what you and everybody want :) ? Keep in mind the capability concept of a process, system or method: you can't force a system to do better than his capability. If your method can't give you an entry point where you can keep small stop...
