    If you follow trendlines...

I'd give the S&P a 1250 target based on that.. interesting days. I'm hedging my swing trade portfolio right now with the qqqq's to remain overall market neutral until things settle down. all makes for fun viewing for a system trader :)

IB's new limit on open orders

oops... typo.... that's 1.2m, not 2.1 m in pending orders, so new position orders are barely above my buying power.. still, I'd have hit the max order limit today, so thank you IB for your quick response in removing the limit.

IB's new limit on open orders

I see what you're saying.. and yes, under some circumstances it could happen.. In my case though the indivudual positions are so small in relation to my account, and the orders so far from market, that it's never happened to me yet (or even come close). Plus, all orders have very tight stops...

IB's new limit on open orders

it's a possibility, but it would have to happen mighty quick.. once there are no available funds, outstanding orders are cancelled, and stocks liquidated if neccessary. If would take some freaky market action to fill and stop out my long AND short trades in one day.. I suspect this issue is...

IB's new limit on open orders

It depends.. I might have an OCA pair set to sell or buy at a trendline, depending on whether we bounce high or low first. And I'll often have limit orders quite a way from the bid/ask since enter all my orders before the market opens and I want to be able to take advantage of intraday visits...

IB's new limit on open orders

that's worrying... so now I;m wondering what's going to happen to my bracket order pairs once the parent order executes. is there a chance one or both of the bracket orders will be rejected? .. and another thing! I don't know about other traders who submit this number of orders, but I...

IB's new limit on open orders

Of course there's no limit to the number of accounts you can have.. It's a pain though. I run a system on the S&P 500, and if would be daft to have create a second account just for symbols starting from M onwards.

IB's new limit on open orders

Yup, I'm hit this limit too.. Come on IB. What's this all about? I can load a full indexes worth of symbols into the basket trader, but I can't actually submit orders on all of them? Here's hoping IB remove the limit, or at least raise it to a sensible level without delay.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Suggestion : can IB create symbols to represent equity curve and other values from the accounts page. It would be nice to be able to chart some of these things, both daily and intraday if possilbe. The values could be read at user defined intervals and cached locally.. It would also be...

    Oh crap, what now?

    3. http://www.apple.com You can run the new Macs in Windows mode if you really need PC specific trading tools, and you'll know you can always boot into the more stable OSX of windows goes down. Alternatively it might be worth keeping a cheap Mac Mini or iBook as a standby for broker access...

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

More Ah Ahh!.. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/Interoperability/extended.htm it seems you CAN use the regular APIs as well. The java/C++ and activeX ones include the ParentID parameter in the order function... which should (I think) allow the order to be entered to IB but...

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

Well.. it's not ideal since it Excel needs to be running, to constantly check if the condition has been met, but it's all here.. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/Interoperability/DDE_Excel/conditionalordersTab.htm I guess I could work it for now by entering my opening orders...

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

Ah Ahh!! Looks like I can do it in Excel, via the DDE. It does support conditional orders! Interstingly the FIX system does too, and also bracket orders, so if I make enough money to pay a programmer, I'll be able to go the sleek route.. :) nice. Time to go look at some webinars I...

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

Cheers for the reply...The OCA group only partially does what I need though. It will cancel my target order if I'm stopped out (or vice versa), but it doesn't deal with the issue of only entering the stop/targets to the market AFTER the initial has been filled. In TWS I could use...

    Comments on IB's Paper Trader?

I've found it really useful, though there's a couple of caveats.. firstly I only seem to be able to get a maximum of 30 lines of data, a shame since my strategy involves testing a wider set of stocks. Secondly I've been having trouble getting it reset. Prob some hiccups to iron out I guess...

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

Hi guys, New to the board (though lurking for a while), I;m hoping someone will be able to point be in the right direction.. I'm running a non-descretionary trading system, using IB. (swing trading, using EOD data only) I currently us IB's bracket orders. Each day I calculate buy(or...
