How to roll a contract over?

No reason you can't...but you do have to specify that one is to open and one to close. Has nothing to do with the price. That is for open interest reporting.

    contrarians and contra trading

This is why I keep such tight stops when I buy a dip now. ALSO, this is why I am trading on average less than 5% of what I did when we had an up-trending market. The short squeezes get so painful. Intraday, I almost never had longs go up as fast as shorts go against me. Also, catching bottoms...

    contrarians and contra trading

I agree, but still, there are (or had been) up days and there still are strong stocks (intraday). This is more what I mean. Gotta remember, we are talking about daytrading. At least I am.

4 small positions.....shorted some qqq's on the close just so I can sleep ... but yeah, net long hoping for at least a "dead cat bounce" if not a real bit of bargain hunting Mon am (which is my hope and my belief). I think the selling was overdone, then exacerbated by options expiration

    contrarians and contra trading

If the "trend is your friend" is generally accepted wisdom, then how do we also accept the generally aknowledged wisdom that most of the people are wrong most of the time? I for one will ALWAYS buy a drastic down move, and short a drastic up move (be it in the market or a specific issue). Now...

Day Traders--When did you all Start

PS...at that time, no internet. no discount brokers. AND no real money. Traded options in my brokers office. Had beginners luck (Mesa Petroleum, T. Boone Pickens' company). Made 12k on my first trade with a $900 investment. Lost it all back plus plenty more. But I was on the hook. Still am...
