    Motivational Quotes for Traders

The original poster wanted "Motivational Quotes for Traders". (I just re-read that.) Technically my post wasn't motivational. One or more others posted some trading rules. One thing that can knock the wind out of one's sails is a big loss in a single day. Maybe a good idea is to...

Newbie FAQ - a must read for newbies

I'm sorry if I missed it, but I'm looking for a closed forum or equivalent at ET that would provide all information on all futures (or at least the most popular ones). Simply saying "go to www.cbot.com" for information on the YM doesn't seem sufficient. On this thread...

    Oil supply crunch after 2010?

Pekelo ======================================== The new production, combined with a slowdown in consumption, has put off the day when the world will start running out of oil to the 1990s, or the early 21st century. (typical, 1991 to, what? 2025? S. Szpak) Time article dated Monday...

    Oil supply crunch after 2010?

From a recent post of mine: ========================================== In the Peak Oil debate, cornucopians posit that rising prices make oil deposits which were previously considered too expensive to extract and produce become profitable, and also spurs the development of alternative fuels...

Why is the Dow going soo high?

A weak dollar is great. It just sounds very negative. The good thing a weak dollar does is make our fine (U.S.) products cheap, so people outside the States will buy them. (Basically, Landis82 just said this.) -Stephen

    Oil supply crunch after 2010?

Pekelo I'm a cornucopian. Copper, chromium, nickel, tin, and tungsten are also finite commodities. The black line is the average: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Simon-Ehrlich.png I found this very interesting as well: "[Simon] always found it somewhat peculiar...

    Oil supply crunch after 2010?

Oil is a finite commodity, but does that matter? (By the way, I took a course many years ago called "Energy, Resources and Policy" or something like that. It covered oil to orbiting solar satellites.) We were taught there would be a serious global oil crunch coming around...

Why is the Dow going soo high?

thread starter: Anyone know what REALLY causes these big moves? I mean, why so many people all of a sudden are buying on the dow? ========================================== The latest move, if this is what you are refering to, was caused by a breakout to the upside of a symmetrical...

Why were neither of these red hammers reversals? (pic)

An idea came to me a long long time ago regarding just using *one* periodicity when looking at a candlestick/bar chart, since this is sort of where we're going here. Maybe, several minutes after the trading day has begun, just use a 10 minute (or whatever) candlestick chart...

Why were neither of these red hammers reversals? (pic)

Candles, uesful as they are can't burn in a vacuum. One has to look at support/resistance levels etc. Candles of different time periods (using intraday data) will be different , even though the data they use is the same, if you catch my drift. There are a few times each day when 5...

    Yo, trendline guys

A 4 period simple moving average on the YM (in hindsight) shows a trendline that broke and held. This was done on the closing prices but the concept *may* also be valid with intraday bars.

    Quote of the week

There are a number of 'quotes' websites. I like thinkexist. A person could spend serious time there. There are a number of words that one could use to search that ET posters might try: I have included links below to get those interested started...

    Internet Radio(music)

I think shoucast has been mentioned to me a while back by someone somewhere. I have urge as well (but I haven't been listening lately). It is $9.95 a month. A playlist can be created there. Of course $0 a month is cheaper. -Stephen

    Internet Radio(music)

I'm not sure internet radio will be around much longer. We will see. I like Pandora. Create a 'station' by typing in an artist or song. For music that will not disturb your thinking too much, I suggest David Lanz. You will get instrumental music by a number of artists in-...

tradersaavy Since you look at the DOW, I found a graph and put a couple trendlines on the closes. Nothing new here really, trade well. http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dowcw5.png

    Yo, trendline guys

Thanks for the terms. Does one determine what the slop is on the ES by looking at the last 10 instances and then using the largest? Some other way? -Stephen
