    A Kinetic Energy Idea

ok, MA is also price value, but when you look at the right edge of the chart why would an averaged value be of any help... Moreover, an average of x periods, where x is set by you .... ? i would probably do fine reading the tape but i'd still have to draw price action on a piece of paper...

    A Kinetic Energy Idea

a chart and the tape are pretty much the same thing because both things output PRICE as a value. any other study outputs an INTEGER/BOOLEAN OP/etc. which is not price.... think about it...

    A Kinetic Energy Idea

i use charts and i don't think a chart is an indicator (and i wouldn't want to go into semantics). a chart with only price shows the history of price over a period of time. that's it. it's the most basic level of visualizing where price action was right up to the present moment. an...

    A Kinetic Energy Idea

ok, i won't argue anymore, but you should try driving and looking at the speedometer all the time, see where it gets you. I hope you see the trees, people, other cars, etc my own personal opinion is that indicators are developed by people out of fear or prejudice, and that keeps them from...

How do you trade a parabola move?

you don't unless you are a momentum trader by default case in which if you stick to your trade long enough, you get most of the move.... however momentum traders get whipsawed a lot. when the move is unfolding you never know when it's going to top out so buying at the top seems a bit...

Does Visa Hit The Market for Trading Tomorrow?

however, the long term is something pretty vaguely defined. we need to know a clear timeframe. If we're talking about 10 yrs, many IPOs are a great investment vehicle.. however, in the nearer term, 3 yrs say, i don't see V very far. i don't want to say it's going down, but considering the...

Does Visa Hit The Market for Trading Tomorrow?

all i can say when reading the IPO news and looking at the number is: VISA is also in trouble and it knows it and it's trying to protect against future econ outlook.

    Today's CPI number (March 14 2008)

oil over 110... but that's why they invented the Core CPI :) so we can have more to discuss and argue about... :) lol anyways, don't focus too much on CPI bcoz there's the consumer confidence and then Beeks speaking.... so... i'd go for a walk today... better for blood pressure. it's not...

a strategy that would work but played on a short term until it can be held (extended) is to short volatility.

Too much information and you're out!

i haven't said that you should do your charting manually, i was only expressing my worry that not enough traders manage to escape the rat race and get in touch with them, with silence, with void that needs to be filled, recharge while working, etc.... to a newbie these things seem like they have...

Too much information and you're out!

the thread has gone off rail. champion: i am not sure if you were talking about certain people posting on the thread or not. i will reiterate, since this thread is in the psychology section. too much information clogs up the thinking process and tires the hell out of you. it's pretty...
