    Too funny. Relax guys.

    ECHO

I think I am going to open an account with ECHO. I would like to ask some questions here before I do. Thanks in advance. 1. Can you make a deposit and "hold" an account with them while you are getting the series 7 out of the way? 2. How do they handle "your" account(s)? Do they send...

    Death Blow to DayTraders

I love the changes, but agree that for many the 25k rule is out of line... My first "trading account" was opened with about 10k, and needless to say I didn't lose it, but I had the full intention of upping the account (well above 25k) after I settled in. So, I do not understand how a full...

    Series 7 exam

Pass Perfect has a series seven guide. It has many parts and is over 1000 pages. The exam isn't hard; it is just a lot of "stuff."

    Scalping

I was wandering what the scalpers were doing with decimalization. I was shocked on how tight the spreads were at first. Well anyway, just out of curiosity how are you scalpers doing? Seems like you may have to make some adjustments to your game?

    Mark to Market Election

Mjt, My understanding is that it is for the first year only.

    Trading QQQs

I have traded the Q's, and trying to execute with AMEX when ISLD is "running" or "off" is just about impossible. If you think about it; ISLD wouldn't be "off," as compared to amex, if it were an option.

    Armageddon

I think that because so many are looking for this capitulation that we may NOT see it at all, or anytime soon, and that there are three options that may result of this. 1. Markets continue to steadily bleed, and once people can't take the pain anymore we DO see a catastrophic failure and it...

    Disadvantages electing Mark to Market?

mjt, I do not understand your question... Are you talking about short term capital gains, or long term?

    Mark-to-Market

2 Questions; This is my first year of M-t-M. I am going to have my return professionally done, but I still like to do it my-self to "check", and this will be my accountants first return that is M-t-M. He is good, but does not have ESP. 1. Were do you realize the interest earned on accounts...

Trading for a Living (Capital Required)

To-eaches-own, he was asking for opinions, and I gave mine.

    Disadvantages electing Mark to Market?

The only one I can think of is audit risk, and the need for specific seperation of securities.

Trading for a Living (Capital Required)

I would think about 50,000. This would be cash after the learning curve. So starting out one should have 65,000 or more, and expect to lose 10,000 or more (probably more). In my opinion to do "it" right, and make a "good" living you may need more than 100,000.

    Let's start a tax discussion

    1. Thanks again White... 2. I went to "Green," and read the entire site (I think), and did not find what I was looking for. I assume I have to buy one of his packages to get the information I am looking for? If so, which package? Have you seen the Tax Eamples Guide?

    Let's start a tax discussion

    1. Thanks White. Do you think that if he files for MTM for 2001 will he be able to realize those losses in 2001? 2. Anyone can file as a trader in a schedule C. Your accounting method will not change though (schedule D), but you can write-off some of your trading expenses. MTM is all...

    Let's start a tax discussion

    1. Sure is White, and I told him that, but he doesn't listen to me... I know you are into options. Do you have any ideas on how he could structure the losses, or is he stuck? 2. I elected last year, and last year it was April 17th.

    Let's start a tax discussion

This will be my first year to file as a "Trader," or mark-to-market. I think I have a good handle on my return, but I would like to be sure; does anyone know of where there is a step by step guide for M-t-M returns? I also have another question for all you option experts (have only lightly...

    Death Blow to DayTraders

I don't want to be misunderstood. I am a constitutionalist (almost a libertarian), I feel that a non-broker minimum dollar amount on an account is as wrong as it gets, and just another sign of "big" gov.. On the other hand I also feel that "fulltime" traders should have the ability to use 4...
