Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

@HawaiianIceberg I have been super busy. Will try to find time to answer your question above about TRs. But in the meantime I often use this technique. Will trade one min TF TR as I am waiting on 5 min TR to get 20 bars. All the same trading concepts. One min just requires quicker decision...

Who has read Al Brooks books?

But i want to know how long it took price to do what it did in fact do. I am more interested on what price did in time than what price does on volume. Time factors into momentum. Time is a component of momentum. Momentum is product of mass and velocity. Velocity is length or distance in a...

The best indicator of price is price itself.

I don’t know. All I know is I don’t need volume to scalp ES.

Because price is what is going to pay you, not volume. There can be a lot of volume and hardly any price movement. Conversely there can be low volume and plenty of price movement for a scalp. Plus when you throw volume in to the mix it just adds another factor to decision making. Like all those...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

I did explain those two 2 point trades in that posts. The opening gap down. Then the reversal. This was a V bottom reversal. I was not trading it as a TR. I was trading it as a strong reversal approaching resistance. The momentum and price action were indicating to me i could scalp 2 points at...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Those were short trades that I was covering. Look at my post 1794 again. On bars 13:35 and 13:45 I was covering my short entries on bars 12:40, 12:55, and bar 13:55. In other words, I scaled in (average down) short then covered those three entries on bar 13:35 and bar 13:45 (that big bear bar)...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

After such a large bear bar and made on momentum I would not go long but wait to see is it was a successful BO. I would wait to see if the BO holds below the bottom of the range on PBs? and it did. Every attempt to reverse the big bear bar failed. If I was looking to trade in this case I would...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Here are my trades for Friday. I have already explained in a post above the first two long trades (each one two points with multiple contracts). They are located in far left of box. After these first two trades when around 20 bars sideways to down were made I then drew the box. Price trade...

I did take another trade and scaled in. Will explain later. Got something else to do.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

I am going to have to leave as I have other things to attend to. Just remember, TR techniques will work until their is a successful BO and when that happens then a trader must go with the BO. but most remember most BO attempts fail within 5 bars. However, eventually a BO will succeed.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

I would say we are now in a TR. So shorting at the top 1/4-1/3. Going long at the bottom 1/3-1/4. But understanding that sooner or later there will come a BO of the top or bottom of the TR

See why I like to wait for 20 bars before using TR techniques?

Notice the PB has almost reach a 50% PB from the previous major move up ( bars 9:40-10:00). That is typical PA. We may be seeing the width or height of the TR being established but it still is too early. It is still a PB.

BY bar 11:20 it is still in a PB. Not yet an established TR. So I would wait before using TR techniques. We also have a DB (double bottom) near EMA. By the way this is ES and MES PA on 2-16-2024. I didn't clarify this at the beginning.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Thanks. I enjoy sharing but at times get tired and stop for a few months. In this business skepticism is usually a good trait IF it doesn't derail any paradigm shifts that could help a skeptical trader. I always just tell traders to test what I say on a demo and see if you can make it work for...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

We have around 7 bars of sideways movement since my last trade. This pause is Profit taking. It is too early to use TR techniques and we don't yet know if price is morphing into a TR or is this just a PB that will be followed by a continuation. If it is going into a trading range then the width...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

When such a strong channel up it could continue closing the opening gap or just as likely to go into a trading range where profit taking will take place. It is unlikely a strong reversal, but it could. Anything is possible! However, the chart will show what happens. I would lean more towards a...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

I watch what price does around high of the day. Here I take two - 2 point long trades as price gets close to the HOD. One as price gets close HOD. And the other after it breaks the HOD. The reversal up on bar 9:00 and the subsequent price action was strong. However, we could see a reversal...
