Please tell me the term for......

Years ago, when trading equities, I did this on occasion to skirt the uptick rule on a short sale. I would simply sell the long position and end up holding the short side at a time when getting the short off was difficult. Not quite legitimate but it kept my broker off my back.

    Crispy Day Trading.

Good thing for the one winner I was able let have some slack... So far it seems that my avg winner goes only a maximum of .30% against me, with the average running .15%. and lowest being .03%. I may be able to easily drop to .30% instead of .50% stops and save money. Another few days will tell...

    George Soros on Trading

In what sense is a loan at below market rates with no reference to the borrower being credit worthy not a bailout. if someone will give me $100,000,000 (an arbitrary figure) at a good rate my guess is that will bail me out from my essentially middle class life to a much more affluent position...

    Wow, oil stocks getting torched.

It seems highly unlikely that the Sudais would continue to pump at or even near the current rate if it were headed anywhere near that range. Virtually ever informed voice believes they have no desire to sell large quantities below 60. They still have enough of the world's daily supply to stop...

nope there isn't a bubble in the art world

but of course the fools don't comprehend this. Why be quick to c all those who can spend $100 million fools? Seems to me anyone who can write a check that size is unlikely to be a fool.

What are the chances an ETF will go Madoff on you?

Do you lose any sleep over being eaten by giant mutant ants? If not put this in the out bet category and forget it as a risk factor. State Street is watching the till and they are as good as anyone in the world at till watching. If you hold on to these thoughts see a doctor!!

    Ivey Loses Casino Trial

While I don't think casinos should be permitted to retain their license if they ban card counters, there is a very significant difference between that and this London crap. In Vegas no one takes away what you have already won they just stop your play at that point. Ivey had already won the money...

NinjaTrader Brokerage Lowers GC and CL Margin Requirements

No one is forcing the trader to leverage out they are simply being given that opportunity. I have always liked having as many arrows in the quiver as possible whether I draw them or not.

Successful traders: why don't you move to a 0% capital gains tax country?

To be able to stay within the confines of the US and trade tax free is, as you say, a trader’s tax nirvana. Lifestyle considerations are another matter but that is a matter of personal preference.

Citadel founder Kenneth Griffin seeks to divorce wife

I don't get why the courts can seem to understand that a prenup is a contrct and except in extraordinary circumstances can't be modified without the consent of both parties. It's a freakin' no-brainer!

Successful traders: why don't you move to a 0% capital gains tax country?

Robert, am I correct that the PR tax regime is essentially a replacement of Federal Taxation and that the 100% exclusion of capital gains income allows you to run tax free on that income?

    George Soros on Trading

You ask "How is this possible?" It is not only possible it is inevitable. It is in the nature of human beings. Once an industry forms -- say airlines -- the industry (not men of the left) push for regulation to raise the cost of entry. It has happened over and over again worldwide. What...

Curious About How People Feel About The Amazon/Hachette War -- WARNING: A LONG READ!

While you are technically correct they are too big a factor in American publishing -- through their Hachette Book Group USA -- to ignore them as American publishers as well as French. It is because of their clout in the US market that Amazon takes them so seriously.

Curious About How People Feel About The Amazon/Hachette War -- WARNING: A LONG READ!

Dear KDP Author, Just ahead of World War II, there was a radical invention that shook the foundations of book publishing. It was the paperback book. This was a time when movie tickets cost 10 or 20 cents, and books cost $2.50. The new paperback cost 25 cents – it was ten times cheaper...

    George Soros on Trading

Mav, I believe your problem with him is that he is a hypocrite but I think there are a fair number out there who detest him because he is a liberal. They feel everyone with wealth needs to man the wall against the invading hordes. He's got enough balls to back his plays large and enough...

    George Soros on Trading

My politics are certainly not in line with Soros' yet I'm trying to figure out what your post means. When you say he has "evaded" billions in taxes do you mean he has used every loophole and the best tax pros to lower his tax due or are you saying he has defrauded the system. Two very...
