My option trades for the past 6 months, feel free to ridicule, or offer guidance

The information above is irresponsible and misleading IMO. While what is written above is not necessarily incorrect as stated, it doesn't compare the reward to risk as one loss can wipe-out many many wins. My definition of “edge”: After completing a statistically valid number of...

Anybody trades options without any greek letter?

Let me give you a gambler's perspective. Yes, you can trade without "knowing" the Greeks but knowing what the greeks represent is very helpful. Live sports wagering is very much like the options market and in fact I use the same methodology to wager (invest) in both. I couldn't...

If edge is hard to get, why traders keep trading?

No. This is where money management comes in. Joe.

question about buying(and selling) a call option?

Do yourself a very big favor and buy just about any options book that describes the basics. With all due respect, your questions tell me that you really don't know very much about options. Get a book, read it, and then you will be in a better position to answer your own questions. It will...

Trading philosophy: Options are just different, Why?

You can also be wrong on the direction and still make money! Joe.

Dependent upon when someone may have started investing in dogs of the Dow, they may have invested in AIG, C and/or GM to name a few. Joe.

Credit Card Companies Plan On Punishing Cutomers Who Don't Carry Balances

All I can say is, Wow!!!! I don't understand where the animosity comes from. My first credit cards many years ago had an annual fee. Then some years later I received offers for new credit cards that had the same terms but no annual fee. I did not demand that the CC companies send me...

    Option Strategy Adjustments

I agree with this 100%. For me, there is no such thing as an "adjustment", just a new trade that should stand on its own merits. I look at things from a gambling perspective. Adjustment means to me in gambling terms, the "chase". Chasing can be a very bad thing when gambling and can...

    Question for some math gurus

When I signed on to be a member of this board, did I miss the fine print that stated that responses had to include insults and/or be hurtful and condescending? Joe.

    Swine flu are you prepared?

I was given the swine flu vaccine while I was in the Army in I believe it was 1978. I wonder if that makes me prepared? Of course I got sick as a dog after getting the vaccine but never got the actual swine flu. :) Joe.

Open Interest - does it have meaning?

As with most things, there are very few absolutes. When someone uses "can't", it usually means that they personally don't because I am sure that someone actually does. Make sense? OI is important to me for the reason mentioned by MechTrade above, it is an indicator of liquidity and does...

Stop paying credit cards. Give yourself a bailout!!

Debit cards are not the same as credit cards. I don't disagree with your point but I don't have a debit card nor will I have one unless I am in some way forced to have one. I use a credit card for just about everything and pay the bill in full each month. Not only do I get perks to use the...

POLL: Do you clearly and specifically predefine your profit target?

Always. I go for small consistent profits. I have my "closing" order posted shortly after the buy. Joe.

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

Part of the problem of course is semantics. Everyone is applying "their" definition to "gambling" such as the statement above. While I understand what you mean, you also limited your definition of "gambling" to total win or lose wagers. This is not so in live in-game wagering. In fact, live...

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

First I believe you are trying to relate to wagering the spread before the game, 110 to win 100. This is very difficult to beat. The spreads are created by professionals and they are very, very good at what they do. Statistically, in the long run, they come very close to 50/50 on their...

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

I am sure there are many that could disprove what you wrote. I have found that when someone makes the above statement about gambling, they are usually referring to the fixed-odds Vegas type gambling such as craps and roulette. I make money most days.. nearly all weeks and months... and year...

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

Semantics. I use the exact same methodology for my options trading as I do for my live sportsbook betting. Which is gambling and which is not? :) Joe.

    Average down disaster

Ding ding ding ding ding!!!!! This IMO is one of the essential "skills" that one must learn when trading (gambling), how to take a loss. The whole idea is that you will not "win" all the time. The "trick" is to collect in total more on your winners than you lose on the losers.
