    There are many ways to trade. You can make a lot more than 100-200K a year and you don't have to watch ticks; but, I agree with you, you seem to want to move on and no longer have passion for trading which takes an intelligent person to realize.

    sorry to say this and be so blunt but if you can't make money it's not function of the market; my guess is you probably just aren't passionate enough about trading. The best traders I know never ever ever consider quiting. Not being able to make money is one thing; not having a passion for it...

    IMO, trading to make 25-50K is not a viable plan because in bad years you are toast. For an individual, the only reason to trade is to make it big IMO. You have to enter the arena with the plan to make millions or else your better off getting a job with a little more security.

    Figure out your passion, then start a business with that theme. Getting a 40K a year job doing something you don't enjoy is a sure route to unhappiness.

    Whether it's zero sum is irrelevent. The point is... If you add up your profitable trades and minus off your losing trades and commission (over a number of years) do you have a positive number and is the positive number enough to pay your bills, enjoy yourself and save for a hurricane or a Tsunami.

    How much capital is good to start full time trading

    start small until you you learn how to make money, maybe $10K... then you probably need about $100K capital to be able to make a decent living at it... but "decent" is all relative.
