Building and sharing a profitable strategy

20 parameters on 13k trades is about 650 trades per parameter. This is a pretty good number. A more realistic figure is about $15 per RT on slightly longer time frames. However, average trade was at $6 not $8 on the outlined initial strategy. So yes, it's not profitable, it's making too many...

    WARNING!

I got the PM a while back which included only pictures which loaded automatically. I closed it, deleted the messages, and cleared my cache. I have not seen any pop-ups or redirects on the site so far. I have kaspersky AV and a firewall on the machine I use for browsing.

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

Did you not read the "DOES NOT IN ANY WAY" part of the sentence? They just said they do not do that.

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

Thank you IB-AN for posting this information. Indeed, the Reuters article may need some corrections. With all the different numbers in those statements and the different "experts" flying around here and interpreting on their own, it's hard to not get confused and worried.

You're right, he's a rock n rollin risk taker! Just look at him without that helmet! I'm scared... On a serious note, yeah, having the CEO own a lot of stock is somewhat reassuring. I have my alert at IBKR set at 12.

How to know if money is real

That's something called "accounting". Yes, it often gets very complicated to the point that nobody understands it. At such a point nobody can be sure if this stuff exists. Editing numbers on a computer is same as editing them on paper. That is fraud, and that is what auditing is supposed to...

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

I can imagine Peterffy reading any of this and thinking "but everyone does it!". As risk averse as IB may be, the "everyone does it" clause puts them in a position where they must do or die - at least I see that as highly likely. Creation of a broker where credit risk would be close to zero with...

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

So that means each time a customer closes a long, those shares are taken away from the collateral? Does that mean that the loan to IB based on hyopthecation and rehypothecation is returned immediately to the lender? Further, does this mean that if a customer closes a long position worth 100k, IB...

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

How can we know? We don't know the value of customer collateral or it's proportion to the 30bn. It could very well be above 140%. They have a UK operation don't they? What do you think they use it for? The way I see it is that a lot of the collateral will come from longer term and mid term...

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

So one re-hypothecation analogy would be that if I took out a mortgage, the bank could borrow money based on the hypothetical ownership (or right to take posession) of my home? That's ... wtf? Then they can re-hyopthecate 140% of that borrowed money and so each link in the chain increases the...

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

IB has two accounts for each customer; securities and commodities. The securities account is insured by SIPC. My concern is that IB never disclosed exactly how and when it shifts equity between those accounts based on the activity on the customer. That means if something happens, they can easily...

"The Entire System Has Been Utterly Destroyed By The MF Global Collapse"

Reading that transcript made her sound quite a bit like a crazy person. Claims such as: -Don't own what you can't protect with a gun. -Word on the street is a new exchange, after global collapse, will be in Dalas. Ok I get it, she's a cowgirl, but come on, seriously?

    Challenge to Jack Hershey

Hundreds have asked before and hundreds were denied. He can't start a journal because the diametric discrepancy of the dimensions his system operates in versus the real world price action. One is fictional the other is real. It works in scifi movies though. Maybe it's better to ask him the other...

Trading in US. All big moves happen overnight

Markets are much slower overnight, what are you talking about? You even have to change strategies when trading ES outside RTH, it's that different and slower. Have a look at some 24hour charts of ES and compare the moves in RTH vs outside. It's just that more time passes and both Asia and Europe...

Ok but I've heard different stories too. Sometimes bugging them about it for details will speed things up, and they will report more findings to the authorities sooner rather than later. Similar things have happened on other forums, I know a few admins.

Now ask the ISP of that IP if it was using that same IP range on the date you detected it in hist post. If not, you need to ask them who was the previous ISP using that IP range at the date of the post. They should usually have that kind of information. The ISP in current ownership of that IP...
