They ARE the BEST there is

Guess I don't know how to interpret this post. Do you mean to imply that what happened was a good or bad thing? Cannot tell if this is sarcasm or if you truly believe "winning at any cost" is justifiable. whatever, it truly was a sad moment in America's history. The events were sad...

How much $$ is required to be Scalp Day Trader ?

Scientist, I just wanted to chime in here to say I think you made some very good points both in specifics and in general. It takes the ability to adapt and to be open to adjusting not only style, but trading vehicles to be fully competent in today's market. If one limits themselves to a...

double standard - bodies of saddam's sons

After giving a lot of thought to Kymer's opinions and political attitudes, I have finally come to the conclusion that it is pretty unlikely that he will be doing any volunteer work on behalf of any Democratic candidate that will oppose GWB in next year's Presidential election (unless Hillary...

    Is Et Anti-American

Yup!!!! And do it in the "name of America". An insult to our nation's whole premise. Really sad. Peace, RS

    Gold?

Gold as a "safety net" pretty much means you are tying up money (whatever you paid for the gold) to protect your fear of the collapse of the dollar. Which is a pretty pessimistic attitude. Can you give an example of where gold would provide "safety"? Of course, in an apocalyptic post...

    Jokes

I guess the joke is that Don posted it as "news" while it is another internet hoax. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/panthers.htm

    Jokes

The last four ex-U.S. Presidents are caught in a tornado, and off they whirled to OZ. They finally make it to the Emerald City and come before the Great Wizard. "WHAT BRINGS YOU BEFORE THE GREAT WIZARD OF OZ?" Jimmy Carter steps forward timidly: "I've come for some courage." "NO...

    Prop Shops

We switched posts (quarterly? can't remember the rules now...been a long time). We were not really in it to make markets, but more as speculators. To comply with our percentage requirements, one of our three posts was always OEX. We did huge back spreads to keep in compliance with the volume...

    Prop Shops

I think Nitro made a very valid point several times in this thread, which no one seemed to respond to. That is the psychological aspect of trading one's own funds as compared to trading firm capital. I once did a post about how I was consistently able to be profitable trading the money of...

The most beautiful car ever conceived ...

Since it's all fantasy anyway (I assume), why make money an issue? Why screw around? Go all the way!!! Don't settle for anything second rate. 0-60 in 3.1 (and it seats 3, so TM can trade his minivan...it's a family car) :) http://www.mclarencars.com/...

how does cnbc/cable news pick what stock go across their ticker?

Since Sept. of 1999, this has changed. Don't know about CNN, but the quotes on CNBC are no longer delayed 15 minutes. (They are as current as possible for the format). Peace, RS

how does cnbc/cable news pick what stock go across their ticker?

I believe you are incorrect. It is indeed a consolidated tape (nothing to do with CNBC). Of NYSE listed stocks. So this includes third market trades. Therefore, saying it is a NYSE tape is inaccurate. Third market includes not only exchange traded (PHLX, PSE, etc., which trade after NY closes)...

3rd Party as American political force

When the time is right, and the people are thoroughly disenchanted, it will happen. In the election or 1912, "Bull Moose" party candidate, Theodore Roosevelt (NOT conservative, but progressive), collected more of the popular vote, and more electoral votes than Republican Party candidate Taft...

    trading from Thailand

After having put the trip on hold due to the SARS scare, things seem pretty stable. So, itinerary in hand, I took a look at this old thread. I was considering lasik here. But seeing this post brought it to mind agian. Seems like having it done there may be a good idea. If "Peppermint" is...

No surprise there! I think you can also save more than $300K going with that baby instead of the Enzo. Order early. Don't get on the bottom of the list, like you were on the Enzo. Order before midnight tonight, so you don't forget (just like a set of Ginso Knives, or a Pocket...

    The Daniel_M Update

Daniel, I believe that walking away is a part of every trader's experience. You will know when and if it is time to return to trading. Those who start, and trade straight through without a break (or a bust) until retirement are very few and far between. If they exist at all. (independent...

    S&P 500 looking very toppy

This is pretty funny stuff. Reminds me of one of the quotes generally attributed to Yogi Bera (seems like they all are) ---- "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded" Gotta wonder if Romeo sees the humor in what he says. Somehow, I doubt it. Peace, RS
