Strategy with 3 trades per year on average

I have studied and developed a VIX based strategy that seems quite profitable. 35 trades over the 10 year lookback. Only 2 filters used (so no curve fitting-I think). 5-1 reward/risk ratio. 60% win rate, 11% loss rate and 29% scratched. Enough data for me to patiently wait for the setup to...

You want high win rate? You take a tick and leave off the stops. EZPZ You want big wins? You let your winners run and keep a check on losses. You want both? Can't help you there.

Then why doesn't anyone ever show a profitable P/L? Because it's not about P/L; LOL Like Sweet Bobby, he's down 3% YTD and loving it. While ES is up 150 points on the year. Tastytrade is all about the action, that's it. The hosts cannot even amend their trading methods.

    TastyTrade Method

Many funds are successful and use premium selling as their vehicle of choice. The special sauce is not that they are selling premium, do not conflate their success with the selling of premium.

I see one of the TT supporters has been on other forums looking to code all sorts of indicators as a means of when to buy and sell. :sneaky:

That's why driver's licenses need to be out of reach for illegals along with business licenses which one needs to procure insurance and on and on.

Developing a naked puts trading system

I sell naked puts on dividend aristocrats earnings days. Far enough out, not a ton of premium but very little volatility of P/L. Seldom ( I won't say never, but they haven't yet) do they drop out and not bounce back quickyl if assigned.

    My Head is Spinning

Doc, If you are looking to scalp, stand back from the chart (ES is what I trade) and really see what it looks like. Not the minutae of MACD, EMA or other indicators but what is price doing? Example if RTH open is within yesterday's range it likes to stay in yesterday's range, at least enough...

Lack of volatility in ES getting brutal

I watch how Candles A and B behave (30m) from there I draw my conclusion if it looks like it MAY be a trend day. Some do not become trend days, most do and I do not miss a trend day. No alerts. I watch from 9:00 to 9:30 CST everyday. If it sets up (rarely) I enter the trade with brackets. If it...

Lack of volatility in ES getting brutal

I have traded ES for 10+ years now. Started scalping, price action etc. I've found that ES gets a good trend out of the open about 4-5 days per month. Those are the days that I trade. 9 point target (or EOD if not hitting 9), usually 4 or 5 point stop in current volatility. Higher vol just...

Risking 1% of your total equity. Does this refer to the stop?

This is exactly how to trade, IMO it would qualify as one of the best posts I've read on ET. Great job.

U.S. added 235,000 jobs in February; unemployment rate dropped to 4.7 percent

Those are precisely the ones who didn't sign up. They paid the penalty instead. It added all the sick and pre-existing patients w/o money.

U.S. added 235,000 jobs in February; unemployment rate dropped to 4.7 percent

The only individuals that I know of that did well were those who received big subsidies. That is why it's unsustainable.

It was for the (essentially) same policy as far as I could tell.
