What do you believe to be an acceptable yearly return?

more than that. I would say minimum 200% returns P.A on starting capital of 20k up to 300k. Otherwise its not worth the risk of trading. after that you can tune down the risk meter to about 30% p.a

    CTA or not to CTA

not a bad idea. unless you find a few high NW guys or an IB/mutual/fund of fund you invest in a CTA to begin with your unlikely to attract large amounts of money. A few of my friends in the buiz took about 2-3yrs to attract any sizable decent funding. so having a side buiz with CTA isnt a bad...

I don't understand this: "I am now fully hedged"

ever since i became a profitable trader i have basically never ever thought about money. if you think great traders trade for the money ur dead wrong. If you take some time and talk to succesful traders ull learn one thing: none of us do it for the money, we do it cause we love it and cant...

How far did you go net negative before you became net positive?

Alot has depended on luck. Many of the traders who started 5-10 years back would have run smack into a huge IT bull. Doesnt take alot of brains to make money during a big boom and a good proportion of trend following strategies would have made craploads on the nasdaq during that period. buy and...

lol but then remember your nick leeson. You have a fetish for losing money :P and big chunks of it. Well ill add a little discretionary element to it: if it looks liek its going up you may buy, if it looks a little down then you may sell. :D

    leeson system

This is a system me and a bunch of other traders made based on a long discussion of barings bank and in particular nick leeson's trading system and the problems which led to baring's collapse. We all concluded that given proper management and a set of assumptions the method of trading which was...

How far did you go net negative before you became net positive?

if it was in % then a good proportion of us would list 100% or more as a figure. I lost around 3000USD or 5000AUD before i became net positive. These where all small amounts because i was playing $1 per tick cfds, it was only until i had a net positive in index and commodity cfds did i venture...

proposing to trade at teh beginner stage with your entire capital on 4:1 leverage to start off with is gambling. You've barely any idea on how your psychologically going to take losses. Are you going to cut your trading size? or are you going to use mroe money to try and make back your losses...

ok remember how u began to ride a bicycle? at first ur emotions were in the way, u were scared to pedal, to go forward. THen you let your logic take hold and you commanded every muscle to move as it should, but doing that u where wobbly and fell over alot. Finally it became subconscious, u jsut...
