Why Does ET Turn Into Yahoo! on the Weekend?

9/11 conspiracy theories, Isreal nuking Iran and a warning of the end of the world as we know it for example. Oh yeah, and every loser claims that the market makers are manipulating their stock. I think it's because there is a low ratio of Flame to Troll on ET compared to a Yahoo! message...

Israel nuclear attack on Iran: conspiracy by an oil long?

OK, Politics aside. Is there any credibility to the original story? And will it have any affect on Monday's crude price?

Island Reversal forming on the OIH

Is the US Northeast the only place on the planet that uses oil? You would think so based on the excuses all the CNBC brains have been giving for the decline. Unusually warm weather in the northeast.

    OIH crashing

Can I ask why you trade PXE and PXJ over OIH? PXE and PXJ are fairly thin stocks, OIH has much more average daily volume. And OIH seems to make huge moves almost every day, 6 points yesterday & 3 points today. Trading the puts in OIH the past two days could have made some nice profits. Not...

    CNBC clueless

This is exactly the edge that Marty Schwartz says he uses in his book "Pit Bull". I am getting very interested in this bond to equities theory. Holy, I don't suppose you could elaborate on this strategy or point me towards more info on it? Thanks.

    Best book for day trading?

If I had to pick just one, I'd say "The Stock Trader" by Tony Oz. A bit dated but still gives you a good look at a day in the life of a day trader. If you are just starting out try reading Toni Turner to get the basics. Good luck, don't let the naysayers get you down. You'll only be as...

Tuesday, January 2nd: Markets will be closed

Thanks Pekelo. But if I took the time to check amex.com myself, what would we talk about on ET? :D

Tuesday, January 2nd: Markets will be closed

Anyone know if the AMEX will be open? Most ETFs trade on the AMEX and I do have some ETF positions. Just wondering.

    IWM

I considered trading the Jan $77 calls yesterday at .90X$1.00. They closed at $1.40 X $1.50 Hindsight is 20/20 I may start day trading IWM options and OIH options. Both are pretty liquid and OIH makes big moves in either direction almost every day.

    Should I day-trade full-time???

True. If someone had the foresight and LUCK to buy 500 RIMM Jan $130 Puts on Friday's open for $5,000 they would be worth $300,000 right now!

Who Faded RIMM on the Open Today?

Hindsight being 20/20, if you would have bought RIMM puts at today's open, and NOT before yesterday's close, you would have done great. As of right now, the Jan $130s are at $5.90 and they opened at .10 The Jan $140s opened at $5.70 and are at $12.00. I love using the options to trade...

Who Faded RIMM on the Open Today?

Yesterday was pre-earnings, you would have paid a premium for implied volitility. That IV is gone now.

    What's with the QQQQ options?

    10-04, Thanks.

    What's with the QQQQ options?

I don't usually trade the cubes but I took a look at the QQQQ options and noticed two things I never noticed before. 1) .63 cent increments? 2) Quarterly options? Is that something new?

    Is The Scottrade Guy Right?

See, Ya can learn something new every day. It's rare that I use stop loss orders on an option position because of the thin volume, but now I'll NEVER use mechanical stop loss orders for options. Thanks for that info and to all the other replies as well.

    Is The Scottrade Guy Right?

I feel like such a noob asking this question but I want to know who is right. Isn't a Stop Loss triggered when the MARKET trades at the stop price? I was long 4 BK Dec 35's @ .75 when they gapped up Monday. Sold half the position on Monday and protected the other 2 with a Stop/Limit @...

    XOM in the upcoming week?

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but if you have to ask unknown people at a website what you should do you probably should have covered already. Simple answer: What was your reason to short it? If that reason didn't work out the way you expected you should have covered.

    How would I do this?

Someone once posted that IB has a "Friends and Family" type account for trading other people's money without taking the tax hit. I personally don't know anything about it but you could try IB.
