    If you are starting a B/D, you need not take the 27. You can "rent" one. That is there are accountant types who will be your 27 for a fee.

    I guess that he clears at $0.0017 per share including the use of that wonderful REDI+ front-end.

    Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

    Try ETG. They have a training program for neophytes. It worked for me. Although I am no longer associated with the firm, they treated me right. Only downside is the 2 year contract, but I thought it was worth the training. Some don't like contracts.

    An old book by Rollo Tape called Reading the Tape is useful. In volume 1 of Barnard Baruch's autobiography, there are some passages that address tape reading.
