Can Day Traders make a good living.

RS7, I think the NASD will let you be registered series 7 at 16 or 17. Kid, The younger you start the more time you have to become successful. LOL You have less emotional baggage and less preconceived market opinions. Youth is on your side.

Leasing A Seat At One Of The Exchanges!

From what I hear, if you pay the dues, they will let you use the seat on the Pcoast and CBOE. Whatever it is, it will be cheap for the seat, expensive for the trading lesson.

Day Traders--When did you all Start

At my old firm they had a guy who was 16. He had graduated H.S. early and didn't want to go to college. Turned out (so far) to be a good trader as far as I know. I think you have to start young before you develop preconceived notions as to how markets should act and how the real world...

    Base Salary + Payout

RS7, No Roth either. You actually have no "income" to shelter. All your K-1 income is investment income. Your savings are tremendous in taxes, but most traders would really want a retirement plan if only to shelter money from themselves and their losing streaks....LOL

    Superstition, Luck and Vodoo

Well... I stepped out for a few hours and things seemed to get a little off the beaten path. My reality is what I make of it. No more no less. Y'all have your own realities. The key is to, like a ballplayer, play with your own reality or ability. The reality of the matter is I have bills to...

    Life after Proprietary Trading?

My MBA taught me after spending so much time with a bunch of people who wanted to be brand managers, that I had to find an opportunity that allowed me the independence and financial upside that would let me avoid the big corporations all my life. So far so good. The MBA was worth every penny...

What was your dumbest reaction after losing a day?

Worst thing I ever did after a bigf losing day was try to comeback the next day twice as big. Then I had two huge losing days in a row. Then, I ate a jalepeno pepper just to be in pain to remember never to do such a stupid thing again. In order to cool the fire in my throat I drank 6 beers...

    Base Salary + Payout

Benefits.. Bright, and ETG and FNY have medical insurance available at some cost to the trader. K-1 avoids FICA but also prevents the setting up of a retirement plan.

    Superstition, Luck and Vodoo

Superstition is for those who can't handle reality. I thought I knew what reality was until I read Darkhorse's treatise. Now I feel like worm poop.

you became profitable - and then ...??

The pressure never leaves; It is a different pressure. Pressure to continue to perform. Relax, I was out the day they taught that at trading school. To perform at the highest levels of any endevour requires concentration, tenacity, persistence, discipline, practice and a deep deep desire to...

Is this fair? Is it common? I want to know.

"fair and Orderly" is the key phrase. Does it get any more vague than that? But, what is fair? Fair to whom? Should the specialist be required to lose money in order to support a stock? Depends on a lot of things.... If he buys 500 shares every 25 cents on the way down is that fair and...

Is this fair? Is it common? I want to know.

It is not possible that the specialist is trading for his own account. However, his buddy the $2 broker could have an order "in the crowd" that the specialist is representing and you "matched and lost". I've been told that. I was on "parity" but because the order was small, they didn't break...

What happens when you reveal your true identity?

I provide some of the necessary liquidity to the capital markets so that emerging companies looking for capital by listing on a national exchange may further their goals ultimately helping build the US economy to higher and higher heights. This in turn provides jobs for millions like yourself...

    Asking the right questions

Mr. Stock is 100% correct. Until you know yourself and know what you really really want, then you will never ask anyone else the right questions.

    A**hole Specialists

In all honesty Chas, I assume you trade 99% listed because overall, you get a better shake than in the OTC market. Am I wrong? (Been known to happen in the past.)

As you know from our first encounter many months ago that I was at ETG during my beginning phase and honored my contract even though I could have gotten better elsewhere.
