Those two mentioned above have 1 year warranty. Hans G has 3 years, which makes it a much better deal.

Wide or regular monitor? what size? how many?

Get the biggest one you can afford. I like the 28" Hans G which could be had for around $300. It does not require a super strong video card (regular on board will do fine), has HDMI connections (2 I think) and will allow you to easily follow a couple of time frames at the same time. One monitor...

moving from 1 ES contract to 2 contracts

Actually, going from one car to two is easy. One can implement different strategies that allow for less stress. One I particularly like is taking out half the profit at a designated target (generally between 2 and 3 points and trailing the other half with a stop at 1/4 profit to cover the fee...

Do you trade from a day-job that is unrelated to trading?

Put a special privacy screen on the monitor and make sure you close the window right after placingt the trade. With stops and trailing stops, there is no need to constantly look at it. I was lucky to have superiors who were really ignorant and the couple of time they saw it, the dots were not...

Do you trade from a day-job that is unrelated to trading?

Yes, for a while it was the best solution. :D It is not anymore. :D

Grinding it out, day after day

ditto My two no no's are: 1. posting in P/L 2. posting in ES Journal for whatever reason either one makes me donate $$$$ to the market.

Polish President and Top Military Brass Dead in a Plane Crash in Russia

Poles have had a rough history and this accident is yet another link in a long chain of unfortunate events. RIP to those 97 - they did not deserve such tragic ending. As for the future, Poland has been hit much much harder in the past and will survive this with ease. There are many smart...

    Building your own trading computer

Since the last post was deleted let me rephrase: A PC that you have built for trading is as smart as delivering pizza in a Ferrari. it makes no sense and is a waste of money. There is no need for 12 GB of RAM no matter what you trade. BTW When I typed 6 I was feeling generous.

Grinding it out, day after day

Lescor, How long did it take you to allow for losses to be taken. I find letting the market take my money to be the most unsettling part of trading. Naturally, as a result of the above phobia of banking losses, I had been guilty of averaging down to erase the original mistaken entry. This...

Grinding it out, day after day

Lots of info Austin and all of it useful. I wish I could adhere to some of the points made by you. Like they say: easier said then done, at least in my case. Profitable trading!

Grinding it out, day after day

Austin, I appreciate your input into the matter and I would not disagree with you even if I had as many trades under my belt as you have. I am glad you summarized the gist of riding the ES horse without being kicked off. Hats off to you for providing the info.

Grinding it out, day after day

Lescor, I understand that you do not trade ES on daily basis. However, since you are in the business, what do you think would work when tackling the ES? How would you approach the futures if you had to make it a go? How do the big boys do it? What in your opinion is the missing link to...

man solves one of world's greatest mathematical puzzles and turns down 1 million

howev No I am praising the system because I: 1. Visited the USSR and saw firsthand how they educate. 2. Went to university with Russian students and saw what they were capable of. 3. Lectured Russian students for over 13 years All that combined with over 20 years experience with US...

man solves one of world's greatest mathematical puzzles and turns down 1 million

We have had charity for a long time and it has yet to solve any problems it aims to tackle. Again donating money is such a capitalistic approach. I once took a Calculus class in college. Most students were Eastern European, Chinese, a sprinkle of other and 1 American who dropped out. BTW I...

Could you briefly elaborate on the "mindset" part? I know it was covered to certain extend in another thread, but nevertheless, could you provide some insight in the subject?

man solves one of world's greatest mathematical puzzles and turns down 1 million

Again, not everything can be solved by throwing money at it. Good education does not allow for second chances and teaches among other things responsibility and accountability. Perhaps that is why kids over there can walk to school next to a railway without getting run over and do not need a...

man solves one of world's greatest mathematical puzzles and turns down 1 million

His decision must be incomprehensible to most who never have known any other system but capitalism. BTW. I guess all that inferior Soviet education was not really that inferior. I am sure millions who work in Wall Marts and McDonalds in this country have so much more to show for...

China set to abolish 1 child policy

Well, it does not matter if China abolishes 1 child policy or not.It is a moot point. It is only a matter of time before a virus wipes out 30 to 50% of population. Anybody who have visited a market in China will know what I am talking about.

China set to abolish 1 child policy

Those who have visited a market in China know what is going to happen eventually. To state that 30% of population will be wiped out is an understatement.

So Many Looking for the Top

It is still 2 more trading days this week and then the whole of the next to make this rise to 1200 reverse itself. We should see 1140 before 1250 and that is all that matters in my book and P/L part of the account. :D
