Thanks Vulture. I'll have to watch them. What do you find is the best way to route your orders?

    Liquid Options

I haven't traded any options for a couple of years, but I am considering taking another look at it. Are there any options (index, equity, or otherwise) that are truly liquid. By that I mean narrow spread, and instant fills at the displayed quotes. What option/exchange combination - if any -...

How many QQQ points for 1NQ

I don't have good charts for futures, but I would like to look at some NQ history. For my purposes, QQQ should be close enough, but I can't find the relationship of the points. Am I correct in calculating that a .20 move in QQQ equals a 1 point move in NQ? If not, what is the relationship...

Bob did you write an Excel program for this download? If you did, would you mind sharing it. I would really like to be able to download from Yahoo into Excel automatically, but I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help.

    intra-spread scalping?

I think he was asking about a broker that would be affordable to try out his ideas with 100sh lots before going big.

Check out Interactive Brokers. I am a happy customer.

    intra-spread scalping?

It is likely that you will only get the fills you don't want in this scenario. In other words, as the market drops you will get filled on your bid, and be left long as the price drops. When the market rises, you will get filled on your ask, and be left short as the price heads north. The...

Oxonian Trader, Thanks for the help. I am still a little confused. If you don't have the time or patience to help, I understand, but if you are inclined to help me further I appreciate it. I am using windowXP, and I downloaded and installed the latest version of JAVA (I'm not sure if I...

Download Historical Stock Quotes from 1962 to present for FREE

I missed this thread when it was active, but I would really like to use the quotemonster program to download Yahoo's EOD data. I have been doing this manually, and it is quite laborious. I feel a little foolish because you guys were arguing about how easy or difficult it is to write a...

glitch and madness in IB auto margin check/liquidation?

Maybe something has changed, I haven't been in a position to be liquidated for a while. I have on several occasions in the past been in a position that qualified for liquidation after hours and was never liquidated unless I was still over-margin the next morning after the open. Even then, it...

glitch and madness in IB auto margin check/liquidation?

I have never had a liquidation when the regular market is closed for equities. Unless something has changed, that will never happen. I have never been in a position to have a margin liquidation in derivatives, so I am not sure about that, but I think it is the same.

Is the specialist system on its way out?

It has been my experience that I can get fills at the nbbo on any Nasdaq stock, and if I don't like the nbbo, I can post a bid or ask and have it show up immediately. This has not been my experience with NYSE. I'll take the NAS any day. In fact, if I am looking at a new short term strategy, I...

Looking to hire a few traders...

I think you will have a hard time attracting a truly successful trader with your proposal. The only thing you really have to offer is leverage, and it is doubtful if a trader that meets your requirements would be in need of more leverage. If he was he could find a much better deal (less than a...

    What's the catch?

I think you might still get chopped up if the price gets range bound near the strike of the option you sell. For example, if ES rolls between 1045 and 1055 for a few days (and you sold a 1050 call), how would you keep from losing your premium to the spread when you had to enter and cover...

    Eyes on Fire

I switched to lcd's, and eye-strain reduced tremendously. I won't even buy another crt. Get a digital monitor with a digital card, and I think you will be very happy. I run one monitor on a cheap analogue card, and the clarity isn't nearly as good as on digital (could have something to do...

    eSignal formula

I would like to draw a line a certain dollar amount above and/or below a moving average. A simple envelope that is set x$ away from the MA instead of x% away. I can't figure out how to do it (obviously I'm not a programmer), and I can't find a program or setting that will do it. If anyone can...

    NYSE vs TSX

Thanks for the help Axe, i now see what I was figuring incorrectly (I think). I will work through this, and hopefully understand how this is all working.

    NYSE vs TSX

You may be right (I am sure you are correct about buying/selling the dollars from IB), but why would my position keep showing greater losses while the spread remains the same. The loss has steadily increased while the spread has remained more or less constant.
