    Spread??

Thanks for the replies and confirming my beliefs. As i'm new to this, i called a live broker that i know is in the futures business to pick his brain and make sure that my "thoughts/strategy" was logical. He admitted he rarely trades the mini's for his clients, which is why i was skeptical...

    Spread??

What is the typical (if there is a typical) spread on the Nasd mini and the SP mini? I just spoke to a broker who told me the ND mini tyically trades with a spread of 2-5 points?!?! Is this accurate, as a spread this wide would seem to me to make it too difficult to profitablly trade...

Real Time Futures viewed in Excel

Does anybody know of a service that provides real time futures (specifically the E-mini contracts) that allow export to Excel using a DDE. This allows one to view the prices, in real time as they change, directly in Excel. Thanks.

    Can you buy "the index"?

Thanks for all the help so far. I'm not new to basket trading as i currently trade some sectors. But it would be different trading the SP500 vs trading something like the SOX (executing 17 different stocks in the SOX compared to executing 500 different stocks in the SP500). I was also...

    Can you buy "the index"?

I have a strategy i'd like to implement that has been backtested using the SPX and NDX indexes. Is there a way to buy/sell the "cash" indexes? If not, how closely correlated are the futures and the indexes? I would expect the futures to have a premium/discount that varies throughout the...
