How much time do you spend trading ?

Points well taken. All that time is spent reading a blizzard of paper -- advisors, web sites, annual reports, value line, newspapers, morningstar. But that's where the edge is -- truly trying to get a grip on the large picture (macro) then taking a great variant perception trade. One of my...

Getting Started in T-Bond Futures - Does Technical Analysis Work in This Market?

I really don't know. It seems like this lease is the biggest secret in the futures community. Thanks for the info.

How much time do you spend trading ?

I was wondering what got you so riled up.? don't take it so personaly Mr. Ipanama or what-ever that place is where you hale from. I couldn't handle CNBC 4 2 minutes... that's real garbage. Did they interview Joe batapaglia today for his great insights? How about abby cohen. Yuk... My...

How much time do you spend trading ?

OK -- well then you can do it your way. I have no problem w/ that. My futures trading is based on taking advantage of short term dis-equiilibiums in the market so I have to be on the screen. A lot of knowledge, feel and art goes into the way my craft is practiced. If you can make money off...

How much time do you spend trading ?

Is that caused it to spike down? I was wondering. Thanks. The bonds are weak anyway.

How much time do you spend trading ?

No booya your missing my point. This is my job. Anyone who does this part time really has an uphill battle. When I'm not trading -- I'm reading and studing what's going on in the world of finance. That may include going to web sites, reviewing the news in each market, reading analysts...

Getting Started in T-Bond Futures - Does Technical Analysis Work in This Market?

This is the best market in the world if you know what you're doing -- blows away the ES. ZB is my bread and butter. There are quite a few misguided posts about this market -- especially concerning trading the b/a spread. In fact I have to now get one of those CBOT IDEM electronic leases to...

How much time do you spend trading ?

You guys gotta be kidding me. I trade and work at this 14 hours a day 5 days week. Saturday and Sunday too. That's what you are up against. Trust me -- you may make a few tics here or there w/ your hobby method, but you're just missing too much of the big picture -- and that's where the real...

How to know when your ready

Good luck rookie.. I started when I was around your age (mid 20s). Many times I had wished I never heard of the futures market. I've done it all for 20 yrs and even did some floor trading. All I can say is I wish I knew then, what I know now. Welcome to the real game (forget that Sim stuff)...

YM has lots of Positive Sentiment Today

That was f....ing sick. For a sell the extension/buy the extension guy -- today proved to be really tough. Fortunately I'm hitting em pretty good in the bonds of late. I've come to really like the bond market. I was up nicely w/ bond profits today then gave most of it back in the ES w/...

You are NOT alone…..trading and depression.

A couple of ideas. Don't be afraid to change strategies. I started off as a trader but was terrible. I became a fundamental long term investor and started to make money. I came back to trading over the years w/ a better understanding of the fundamental picture. I use TA to time trades but...

You are NOT alone…..trading and depression.

What makes trading difficult, especially for newbies, is that a lot of those intra-day movements are totally random and can't be predicted with any degree of statistical consistency. There is no explaning some of what happens out there. It just happens. There is an definetly an element of...

    DJ * CBOT Early Call:Corn Up 4-6c,Wheat Up 8-10c,Soy Up 10-12c

I wasn't clear in my post Smoothie -- I agree w/ what you said. I'm interested in getting short on a bounce off the short term trend. But I believe that the Primary and Intermediate trends have turned lower, which is supported by the fundamentals -- namely the largest expected Corn Crop...

You are NOT alone…..trading and depression.

I started in the mid eighties about 1 year before Boesky got busted. I bought a seat on the NYFE and thought the money was just going to roll in and everything would just be perfect. Fast forward to 2007 -- and a couple billion mistakes later. Now I can fully understand what made Boesky do what...

    DJ * CBOT Early Call:Corn Up 4-6c,Wheat Up 8-10c,Soy Up 10-12c

I like the grains too but have cut back in this area. I now only focus on the very best trade setups vs. the good. I'm willing to let a bunch of set ups pass me by unless I feel I truly have an edge w/ low risk. I try to focus on really good entry. But The grains can get pretty dang choppy...

    YM versus ES fallacy

I second Maxpi's opinion -- I just like it better too. The YM's got a nice feel to it. I also like the OEX at market extremes (used on rare occassions) to catch a turn by going the other way. I only use the OEX when its really stretched out one way. DIA and SPY are nice for longer term positions.

Whats with the spikes in index futures after cash close

I won't touch that crap. Rule of thumb -- when it's slow -- Stay out!! Shut the computer off, go to an unrelated site. Just don't short for a few "easy tics". When thin and slow, the Street will press em higher. That's their game. They do it with all futures during thin trading conditions...
