    Proft/Loss Ratio

You were assuming that you had a 50% win rate and a 50% loss rate. Focus more on limiting losses and executing a system/method that you feel comfortable with. Risk/Reward ratios vary from trader to trader as Billy stated earlier.

Why The Economy Is A Lot Stronger Than You Think

Oh boy........such optimism............so close to a ~4-year market peak..........it mentioned nothing about extreme debt levels.......I've got to start looking at the far-out-of-the-money October stock index puts.

FIA Strongly Opposes Proposed Tax On Futures Transactions

What else is new? "Government" wants more money. Look at it this way. If the tax passes, The CBOT and CME buildings can be converted to condos and would probably sell very quickly. Imagine living in the space formerly used to trade EuroDollars or Soybeans!

best stocks for short term active trading

Confirmation of the Obvious............focus on the higher-volume, lower-priced stocks. That'll give you the best turnover and lowest average trade cost.

    investment pool

Keep talking to brokers until you find someone who can set-up the proper type(s) of account(s) based upon the number of investors and assets under management. Make up your mind what you're going to trade before doing that. I remember a magazine ad for an outfit called "Miramar Research" that...

What a roster! But don't you really think that if they all got together and formed a hedge fund, it would be another "Long-Term Capital Management" scenario?

    Saturday

I believe the NYSE had a half-day Saturday session until ~1931 until it was dropped during the Depression. I sent a letter to the exchange six years ago AND sent an eMail last year asking them to reinstate that session. I'm still waiting for a reply. Sometimes I get too itchy for things to...

Theoretical and practical problems with linear minimum tick sizes, relative spreads

You're getting bogged down in mathematical minutiae. Sure, a one-penny spread is more valuable on a $2 stock compared to a $100 stock. In floor trader parlance, the "edge" is more valuable on a less volatile contract(Eurodollars) than a more volatile contract(EuroCurrency). Focus more on...

    mental block

You appear to be gripped by perfectionism. Your hot streaks might have been random good luck. Your losses might have been random bad luck. When you become cognizant of yourself "freezing up", take the loss. Otherwise, you'll always be vulnerable to big drawdowns.

Futures Settlement Prices -way out of wack again!!

You've observed this happen many times? Use an MOC or "buzzer shot" order next month in order to short-sell the closing price spike.

    10 yr Note calender spreads

All of the bearish news seems to be out there. They'll tighten 25 basis points Tuesday. Maybe they'll tighten one more time in April or May. The spread is making contract lows right now. If the GDP numbers are for real, the spread and the outright should rally. We'll see what happens.

personal savings rate more negative for US consumer since 1933 ?

Most of the ~$600-billion was spent on consumption items, not productive capacity. What will happen when people can't refinance their homes anymore? We'll see. I don't think it'll be good.

Not right now. They lost a ton of money from energy trading when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Don't tell anybody this but it might help to be a "bible-banger" if you apply there.

    CRB index

You're bearish on crude oil? Don't bother with The CRB contract. It's too closely correlated to the energies. Trade the crude oil instead. Oh yah, short-sell the heck out of it!!

    Even More Gross Divergences

What does it mean? What does it really mean? I'll tell ya. Healthy bull markets tend to be led by "The Generals"; i.e. General Motors, General Electric, General Dynamics, General Tire.......larger-cap stocks, not the "soldiers"; i.e. the mid-caps, small-caps, micro-caps nor the nano-caps. These...
