increasing risk and return figures over time

On an arithmetic basis, they should increase. Otherwise, you're undertrading your system and leaving money on the table. On a percentage basis, you don't want the worst month & drawdown to increase greatly. Otherwise you're likely to re-optimize the system at the worst possible moment before it...

Good equity index futures strategy for recent volatile market?

    (1) Expect today's market to "test" the closer daily extreme from yesterday. (2) If the market is making daily highs or lows during lunchtime, expect some type of tradable reversal. (3) Expect daytraders to get "flat" from ~2pm-2:30pm(CST). There can be a tradable "wiggle" at that time.

Huge candle tails today for SPY

If you go camping in the woods and sleep in a sleeping bag and come back with bugs sucking blood out of your leg, those are "bad ticks". As it relates to the market, "bad ticks" are prices that didn't actually take place. The first one where the low of the bar is ~126.7 probably should have been...

    fed fund futures

??............."FF". There you go Bud. One-by-one, July through December should trade above 94.88 and "race" to 95.00 to indicate a "steady" policy or lack of tightening. We'll see.

Trying to find some initial margin requirements and having some difficulty.

"HK"? Is that Hong Kong? Go to the exchange's website for margin info. Keep in mind those are minimums. Brokerage firms can use higher levels if they feel it's necessary.

    program research

Program trading?......Index arbitrage??.........when the futures deviate too far from "fair value", you buy the "cheap" thing and short-sell the expensive thing? I haven't heard anybody brag about the money they've made with that strategy since 1990. There's too much money, technology and...

stock patterns is similar with forex patterns?

They're fully transferable. Stocks trend more. Instead of being a master of all of the patterns, identify the few patterns that you believe are most important and be on the lookout for those in whatever you are trading. Don't let small losses grow into being big losses.

    forex trading

No pattern will work all of the time. You still have to exercise good money management and not let small losses grow into huge losses. Your pattern may also be "optimized" to the market you're trading and require some re-tooling to whatever currency you're interested in trading, especially if...

    Academic literature on traders psychology.

Quit while you're ahead. If you insist on delving further, look in the index and bibliography footnotes of the authors' books you already mentioned. You could also inquire about their graduate and PhD level reasearch they have done. Have fun!

    Short JBHT?

Analyze this..............(1) The risk/reward is ~2 only if there's a 50% chance of either outcome occuring. Don't be deceived by a "high" number. (2) Your profit goal is a well-defined price based upon a prior daily low in the market. That's good. (3) Your buy-stop is based upon an "arbitrary...

    coffee question?

    (1) The tick size means that the market can trade: 103.00, 103.05, 103.10, 103.15, 103.20, 103.25 et al. (2) That's what it means to have price fluctuations, i.e. "ticks", of 5/100ths of a penny. (3) The contract size of 37,500 pounds per contract multiplied by the tick size produces the...
