    Overnight long-short positions?

Are hedged long-short portfolios at most prop firms self-financing? If not, what is the typical spread between the debit and credit interest rates?

how much data do I need for IPAD?

250mb on a device like that is not very much. Reset the counter on your smartphone or laptop and see how quickly you get to 250mb. The 250mb plan is for people who will mostly use wifi and very rarely fall back to 3G.

I sold my Matrox because of that problem. Never could get used to having stuff spread across the gap.

    IB settlement instructions

I wouldn't worry about IB. They have a sound balance sheet, and SIPC protected backed by the US Government. As for the fees, unless you are trading very large amounts, the fees per trade to clear your trades away from IB will dwarf the commission. Let's say you find a broker that will do...

    IB settlement instructions

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. Prime brokerage services usually start for 7 figure accounts. I'll defer to others here for the specifics. If you have a few securities positions at IB and just want to move them to another account, just do an ACAT transfer. What is it you are...

    IB settlement instructions

It is for people with assets held at prime brokers. IB executes the trade, but it settles away at Goldman, Morgan, etc. You could probably do it too, but be prepared to pay fees to do so.

    cheapest level 2 broker

Interactive Brokers has it. They just pass through whatever NASDAQ charges for the data. I think it's $20, but you can verify it on their list of data fees.

Hooking up 2 monitors to a laptop...

There is also a Matrox product that takes a hi-res 2500xsomething laptop dvi output and splits it into 2 1024x768 feeds. It's called Matrox dualhead2go. There is also a triple version of it.

IB ad on inside of Futures and buying power?

There is an exception to reg t for accounts over 100k if the broker has a real-time, risk-based margin system. The margin is based on your net exposure to certain % moves in the underlying instruments, similar to SPAN for futures options.

MagicJack's next act: disappearing cell phone fees

It sounds awful to me. You have to use their SIM, so you are basically turning your cell into a cordless phone. Also, it has a different phone number than your normal cell. Ignore if you have a dual-sim GSM phone.

Rate my portfolio - What should I do and change?

Is this just the equities portion or the whole thing? I'd want to have my nest egg in more than just one asset class.

IS THIS LEGAL ? Arranged trades after hours with a friend at a hedge fund

Don't do it. You will almost certainly get caught. Only way to do something like that is to do it on the floor of an exchange, offering it up to the crowd first. Traveler

    Who's fault is subprime.............

They lent money on a lot of assumptions that weren't true. Mainly, that the statements made on the applications were true, and that the higher interest rates on the loans made up for the increased risk of default. And that some of the loans were backed by an implied government promise to...

Why the controversy? Jack Hershey SCT system works just fine.

I have an open mind about all of this, but a little encouragement in the way of verified results from someone who has learned the method and is successful at it would help. I know, it's kind of like asking Jesus for a miracle so that you can have tangible evidence that God exists. I also...
