Most are either hard to borrow, or easy to borrow but expensive to do so. You have to also finance the hedge.

    Best alternative to TOS

That platform looks awesome. I assume exchange fees passthrough in addition to the platform fees.

Did Altucher fail as a trader?

Funny, none of the critics here have written 9 books but have plenty to say! Only a moron would trade someone else's system verbatim without independently verifying it and making changes. Books are for ideas, not for working methods.

Apple to pay dividend to shareholders: Worst decision in years

And that money's going to make more interest in Apple's money market account than in the shareholders?

What options strategy for going long on AAPL?

Yes. Buy the underlying instead of the options. There is no free lunch.

Apple Is Now Bigger Than The Entire US Retail Sector

With all due respect, AAPL's market isn't tech-savvy young men who post on internet boards. The iDevices are breakout hits because your parents and grandparents might be tempted to have one, and they could care less that Android runs Flash or has a more geek-friendly app store.

Is the bookstore dead, or is AMZN just evil?

Paper books will be around a long time at public libraries. What will not be around long, is the convenience of having a brick and mortar bookstore on every corner for people to treat as a public library while making their actual purchases from Amazon.

Stock777, right yet again. Tim Sykes unmasked.

Thought he was kinda cute making a go of it on Wall Street Warriors. Shame he's been reduced to becoming a snake oil vendor.

    IB wire withdrawal issues

What are your wire instructions? Maybe we can figure it out. Please omit your account numbers! I've had some success with lost wires by just calling the intermediate bank myself and talking to the wire desk. If there was some problem with it, they can clear it or reject it back to the sender...

Leaving IB - where to go??

Victor, Cobra, et. al. What kind of monthly commission levels are we talking about for it to make sense to move away from IB? $100? $1000? $5000? I'm assuming there are platform fees as well. OK to speak generally. I know it comes down to case by case and individual volume.

    IB wire withdrawal issues

Names have to match, generally, and it's a lot better if the wire goes directly to your bank without any correspondent banks involved. Once it goes to a small bank without it's own Fedwire number, they have to rely on the OBO field where it says "For further credit to XYZ account." Outside of...

Treat house mortgages just like Reg-T margin.

I'd say 50% is too little, but obviously 100% is too much since it creates moral hazard. The real problem wasn't the leverage ratio, but the lending standards. There would have been a lot less foreclosures if all borrowers had income and assets consistent with 1980's or 1990's underwriting...

Should I panic about my short position on Apple calls?

Even if AAPL is overvalued, it could go on like this for years. There has to be a catalyst for the trend to change. See internet stocks in 1999 as an example. I did the math and the money I put into my first Macbook Pro would be worth $12,500 now if invested in AAPL. Not even going to think...

    Trading Chairs

+1 to the Herman Miller stuff. Love my Aeron. They come with sticker shock upfront, but keep in mind they have a 12 year warranty. That's well under $100/year, and that assumes it has no residual value when your 12 years are up. You will have been through quite a few uncomfortable low-end chairs...
