FED behind move on Monday ??

there was a new act signed by Reagan in the late 80's as a reaction to the 1987 crash. That act created the Fed Working Group. The slang term for the Fed Working Group is the "Plunge Protection Team". It is very real and they can do just about whatever they want and they don't have to tell...

    Misc. Fees at Prop firms?

I'm not sure I understand the need for a desk fee. Is that to make up for being a low volume trader? Also, are there volume quotas at prop firms? I would be concerned about going somewhere with a high payout and then getting kicked out for not doing enough commissions. Does that happen even...

    Fun in being short

I don't think its fun really, I would rather be long. But I would rather be short than go broke. There always seems to be something to go long on though, but right now it is a very short list.

Trading options during the last few days before expiration

You mentioned the "thrill factor", and yes it does have a thrill factor. But....... The way it seems to work is that stocks start gravitating towards "sticky strikes" on thursday and friday of expiration week. The sticky strikes are usually where there is a lot of open interest. Look up the...

    the ryhthm of the market

just plain overtrading and worrying about every little squiggle during the day will drive most people nuts eventually even if they are winning. Studies have proven that adverse market moves are much more powerfull than moves in your favor when it comes to psychology.

    Short Housing

-Apartment rents are actually dropping for the first time I can remember in my life. I now live in a high end apartment building and I only moved here after the rent dropped $400/month in the past year. -Small "starter" Condo's and townhouses are being built on spec. Condos built two years...

    Catching the right train

If you are trying to use mathematical indicators like stochastic, MACD, etc. they all work better in longer time frames and do not lend themselves to pure daytrading or scalping. That is where Don Bright is right on the money and giving good advice to people.

The put up just shut up?

I didn't make a trade today and might take the rest of the week off. I see lots of gray areas and uncertainty. Lots o' risk. Of course if somebody sees a sure thing be sure to post it :)

    Ranking of indicators

In my experience, all oscillators work much better on the daily charts than they do on intraday charts. They need a larger sample of data to give good signals. They are useless when using bars smaller than 5 minutes, in my experience anyway.

    "Bright Trading"

well the pessimistic view is that prop firms only really make money when they aren't relying on profitable traders to do so. Certainly from a strictly business point of view, a firm that only needs commissions and fees to survive will do well as long as there is a steady stream of new traders...

    Off-floor strategies

as for using floor trader strategies off the floor, I say how can you beat the floor traders from off the floor using their strategies? It would seem logical that you would need to do something different.
