When you use constant volume charts, the difference isn't that severe as the number of contracts traded matter and not the number of ticks. Nevertheless, in critical situations you get still some long bars and therefore a bad entry price... Unfortunately I didn't made a snapshot yesterday...

I tried Ninja Trader but wasn't very happy with it's handling. I like QuoteTracker very well, so I had to look for a better datafeed... Of course I've already known about IB's limitations with it's snapshot datafeed if you use TICK charts but it was still nice to see the difference in a live...

Sorry, I was a bit imprecise, I have typed "fills" between "" as I know that the datafeed has nothing to do with order exec.. I mean, that I got a better entry price compared with the snapshot feed with it's LONGBARS...

bottom line, today I got SIGNIFICANT better "fills" on two of my trades... I think an accurate datafeed really pays off over a couple of RT!

The best trades offer no heat: try moving your intial stop to BE+1 after the trade has runned 2-3 points in your favor... You get lots of scratches but only a few losers... My experience is, that the real runners won't come back after runnning 3 points! At least it is good for your mental...

I've been using QT for a couple of years now. I like the amazing charts, the low price and the fast support - it's exactly what I need. The only (but very heavy) point I'm missing, is its limited programming capacity - PaintBars are nice but not suited for more complex ideas... I tried Ninja...

I trade mainly NQ but have also an eye on ES and ER2. Some times, NQ is very trendy, then it's choppy as hell, sometimes ES is the smoothest, then ER2... How do you decide which contract to trade? With hindsight it's always easy to see, which of them would have been the best. My problem is...

thanx for your responses. I know, that IB uses snapshot data but I wasn't aware that this fact would be an issue with backfilling VOLUME bars... I thought that would be solely a problem with TICK bars. So then am I correct that QuoteTracker uses these snapshot datas from IB and does construct...

I trade the NQ using QuoteTracker and IB datafeed. Recently I tried NinjaTrader and wanted to get a nice chart with 1000 Volume bars. I wasn't able to backfill this chart (tried to get 100 bars). With QT it works perfectly... any suggestions? Thanx...
