Italy imposes 20% tax on all incoming wire transfers. Bitcoin users not affected.

that just tells you that its inefficient for some. Like most things implemented there are unintended consequences that are either an extra cost on a business, or simply a complete hassle for the individual. Do you think that other businesses also make it easy for individual grannies - ever...

Italy imposes 20% tax on all incoming wire transfers. Bitcoin users not affected.

it might have something to do with the fact that a few years ago there was a tax amnesty for many Italians.....you declared it then or now have to explain where the money came from. There was a lot of money that left the country when there were/are worries about the EURO collapse etc. The...

From Persistent Foozler to Disciplined Trader

stumbled across this today... from the Jesse Livermore files I think. Print it - read it. There is the plain fool, who does the wrong thing at all times everywhere, but there is also the Wall Street fool, who thinks he must trade all the time.

From Persistent Foozler to Disciplined Trader

I dont think its the money or the loosing face.....its the mental damage of not following your plan, and the face palm you give yourself for knowingly not following it...... After that then its the problem. This probably goes to the whole zen aspect, of letting go and simply being focused on...

    Delta-gamma neutral options

Lucky 10yo - I knew plenty of option traders who had no idea - it was scary and profitable, and I still know plenty of portfolio managers who trade options but dont understand them...... Its a good thing they dont.

    Delta-gamma neutral options

I always figure you want people trading options who never bothered to work out how they work......by not doing their homework. ;)

    Delta-gamma neutral options

I like these types of questions - as a lot has to do with terminology that differs depending on where you worked, when/how you learnt options.... so while I sit and wait - answers with rationale. Currently: Long Gamma - hence to neutralise long gamma you need to sell gamma. Either b) or d)...

    Question about HFT accounts

I cant speak for HFT, but way back when I was market making, you generally had a lot more leverage, and a lot more flexibility to be able to offset positions. eg; you were long one instrument and short another, your used risk capital was practically zero, even though both may have attracted a...

Better setup for heavy use Excel

It took me a little mucking around and experimentation for me to 'get' it, but ultimately managed to write a 3d array (using an array within an array) very quickly using this method. It was a year or so ago, and I have it somewhere but not easily at hand as its within a lot of code...

Better setup for heavy use Excel

maninjapan - just as a side issue for using excel given your test takes a long time and a helpful hint of you dont have already use it..... Depending on how your macro works, if it involves a lot of dumping/writing of data to the sheets by cut and paste or similar - which usually takes up a...

    Not enjoyable any more

Depends on why you are not enjoying it. If its because you are watching scumbags everyday and searching them out and feeling depressed there are so many (1) , or because you are just generally dissatisfied with trading (2)? (it could be something else) For 1....A few years back when I was an...

World's 85 richest have same wealth as 3.5 BILLION poorest

Given its Friday....:) A question for those who advocate no taxes, free markets, a fair go for those who work hard, the idea of 'parasitic classes'....etc; generally the folks who people should not be given handouts. Q: why is it more fair to give handouts to your children either...

    Stages of a Trader

You make a good point that it 'may' stuff up your discipline. Without knowing too much about how your system works.... The suggestion is not to alter your system and execution with a lot of discretion. The suggestion is to use a little discretion about when you turn it on, and the context of...

    NADEX

I think of opening a business, a trade, or most business decisions as a bet, but sure ....call it a trade/bet/wager/investment/business decision. It was not meant to offend. are these cash settled.....why not simply hold to expiry, as opposed to exit especially if settlement is easy, and you...

    Stages of a Trader

Feng - a couple of questions for you..... You say your system is profitable - it is just that it while it has large variations in the PL, (>100% to small loss or BE some years) - remind yourself that this is not a bad result. Ask your self - can this be scaled up safely? What is the problem...

    NADEX

an interesting read.... Please anyone - for my own clarity - correct me if I* am wrong. These NADEX binaries are basically a bet on the delta** of a strike? thanks. /////////////////////////// *(I am an old school option trader, the models and maths I understand but have no interest...

    NADEX

Jakieo My 2 cents..... If a binary option has a known potential maximum return known at the the time of purchase (much like a vertical option spread) then it makes no sense comparing it to an out right option purchase. ( This is where i think drownpruf is coming from.) Your post #23 You...

    Having a system vs freewheeling

While PTJ and Soros might not have systems as such....they have very clear ideas about how markets move and what moves them, and then how they can participate in them. I would not think they are free wheeling in any way what so ever. Those guys also seem to have exceptional short term memories...
