    IB alarms

I normally trade via a windows NT machine with no problems. Am currently on vacation trading from relative's XP Home version. When I cancel an alarm the system freezes. Any similar experiences? I'm planning to upgrade my NT to 2000 Pro when I return. Any similar problems out there? TIA

    Event driven volatility

I have to agree with Dottom. If the spread doesn't kill you the collapse in volatility will once the "unknown" event becomes "known" and the uncertanty is gone.

Rich, thanks a lot. Those were the numbers I was hoping to find.

    IB your service is terrible

QDZ; You and your friend need to get a life. Everyone with a half ounce of sense knows that IB's quotes aren't perfect. But you may be right. Yeah I'll bet IB programmers and top management got together and decided to set up a separate server just to send bogus quotes to your friend. Or...

    Trader's Union

QDZ: Think about your statement man. Suppose you're self employed as a trader but unhappy that you're losing money for whatever reason so you decide to go on strike.....against your employer. Thats YOU. Maybe even a hunger strike until your broker or the NASD guarantees you an annual profit...

    Trader's Union

UAL, Right. All those fortunate union members that have helped push the company into bankruptcy can now celebrate by looking for other means of employment. Brilliant !

    Trader's Union

Sorry to rain on your parade QDZ but I can't think of anything more at odds with capitalism than a union. At the same time, I'm really not surprised by this thread considering the source. I am not trying to pick on you although it may seem that way. It just strikes me that perhaps you might...

Sure, as long as you earn it. Best to use a stop-loss though :-))

    IB your service is terrible

Taodr; Thank you. Yes it does sound as though you have been patient. I probably wouldn't have been but it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I'm an American ! Must be something wrong that none of us understand. Perhaps a PM to DEF can start some resolution. I like to volunteer...

    IB your service is terrible

Taodr: I did read your previous posts. That's why I asked the question. You say you sent IB a few thousand DOLLARS the first of november. I'm asking if this was to fund an account in the other country and maybe should have been or is being converted to a different currency.

Taodr: is this a currency issue perhaps?

    IB your service is terrible

QDZ; We've all heard you whine about the PDT rule ad infinitum. Now you say there is no advantage to a sizable account. We don't know what you mean by "sizable" but it seems to me that you are implying that you could solve your distress over this issue if you were so inclined. The PDT rule...

    Put options and bankruptcy?

I can't recall where but somewhere I read that in this type of situation the value of the put is equal to the strike. That would seem completely logical to me so perhaps it's wrong. FWIW

The Island ETF Dilemna (letter to SEC)

Julie; Thank you for a great letter and the effort. I don't believe it's ever too late to apply more pressure and will do my part. TonySD: I believe that this regulation and the PDT rule are both part of the same effort. That is to retard the electronic linkage of all markets, especially...

    IB & option contracts commissions

QDZ; your inability to daytrade options is one thing, but making irresponsible statements about IB's finances is something else again. Also it would be great if IB was able to just ignore NASD but it shouldn't be a quid pro quo for you. It should be changed because its the right thing to do...

Tell SEC and NASD you oppose daytrading rules on Options

here's another paragraph from the NASD FAQ's Does this rule apply only if I use leverage? No, the rule applies to all day trades, whether you use leverage (margin) or not. For example, many options contacts require that you pay for the option in full, that is at 100%. As such, there...

Tell SEC and NASD you oppose daytrading rules on Options

Notice that it says "any" security. Could they apply that to futures? I think these guys at NASD would apply it to groceries if they thought they could get away with it. I'd like to see some documentation that this rule DID NOT apply to options. Does anyone have such a thing ?

Tell SEC and NASD you oppose daytrading rules on Options

Last updated on: 06/14/02 FROM NASD SITE. See question on OPTIONS below. Day Trading Margin Requirements: Know the Rules The new NASD day-trading margin rules took effect on September 28, 2001. We have received a number of questions from investors on how...
