$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

Can I just add another 2 cents worth. I think the OP was mad to post his latest post where he detailed the exact timings/thought process etc. I urge him not to post anymore on this thread. It is obvious that IB don't want to pay out the full $52k and are discussing what settlement to ffer...

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

I would put money on the fact that the order was not created by a manual double click of the mouse. I could be wrong but just my 2 cents worth. I don't think that this is the issue though.

Fed Annoucement might be a blood bath

    1.4535 is the equivalent.

    "Fed's buying dollars!"

Dont you believe it. First wave of intervention typically used to say move the currency a couple of big figures. It then reatraces say 50pips so they come in again. Moves it 40 pips. Retraces so they come in again. By the end of the day they have usually come in 5-8 times and by the...

    "Fed's buying dollars!"

That day in 2000 was a bit lively. Do you remember the ECB had tipped the nod to the euro banks in the morning so euro dollar was bid to old boots all morning. The Old Lady then rang a UK clearer and asked to buy eurodollar but then said in effect- sorry, ignore that, not intervening yet...

Happy days. Go through non farms hugely short euro dollar. If the figure is strong clean up. If weak they cover your loss! I think not.............

    Capital Gains Taxation

From next April UK CGT is 18%. But if you do a significant amount of trades or your trading income is a large % of your total income then all profits are treated as income not CG. The most tax efficient way to trade in the UK is via a company set up.

    Top trading!

What am I doing wrong? Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy. I'm not from New York. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in...

    Warnings After The Close??????? 10-01-07

I have to admit I know nothing about equities but do watch them as they impact other markets. However I do think the markets are mad at the moment - equities new highs, carry trades flying - it is like risk is back in town and nothing has happened. The Fed cut, the ECB delayed or...

    Proposed NFA Capital Requirement

The point though is that your dead pool is highlighting firms were people could lose their margin/deposit. Whether or not IG or CMC withdraw from the US market or not I am pretty convinced they would be in a position to repay customers. It would make no business sense not to repay at all and...

    Proposed NFA Capital Requirement

If IG are part of the IG group in the UK (and I am pretty sure they are) then they are pretty safe. They are fully listed on the London Stock Exchange and must be worth £100m+ I would have thought. And what a surprise to see fxcm fined $175k in a case where it was alleged to have cheated...

netbank goes under due to mortgage defaults

Not true. No depositor lost a penny with Barings as ING bought them for a pound.

No Liquidity in today's Forex's Markets

There has been normal liquidity today. Indeed I have to say throughout all the volatility of the past couple of months I am staggered at how tight spreads have been for decent size. Liquidity is vast compared to even five years ago.

    IG Markets

I am afraid that is wrong. As I said I got PWC (one of, if not the largest accountancy firms) to clarify this and I had to pay income tax on all trades. As a result I trade via a limited company set up.

    IG Markets

That is horse racing though, not financial spread betting. I have been advised by PWC that there is no way in the world I could gain tax exemption by trading fx on a spread bet as it has been my full time job now for 18 years. My sole source of income is trading on a pa basis.

    IG Markets

Not true. They have a spot busibes as well that isnt spread betting. Anyway spread betting is not tax free if you trade often anyway as would be classed as a pro.

    IG Markets

A few years ago used to be very good indeed. Sadly management changes were made, not to the benefit of the customer.
