How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

To be honest, I was on a 1 contract of full size HSI, and had to go up to 2... Given the volume, the mini HSI contract is really untradeable, full size HSI is as bad as it is... HHI contract is OK with a bit more noise, but the amount of margin and profits makes it seems unprofitable...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

thanks. Found that all I can do is to exclude the those unprofitable area but I can't flip the entry (go counter to the trigger) to gain anymore Even tested those unused signal of trigger (entry and exit only, not the market definition), it's a pain there is still some left, but not much...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

Mic, That's more along the line of what I am thinking... There are reasons/objective for the different types of entries I used, and they are tested individually before combining them into a system. I was thinking like, should I size up on a pull back type of entry or a mid trend entry...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

OK... The largest DD I faced rightnow is about 40% the max accept DD. My max DD is computed based on one of Acrary old post. With losing % =50%, 0.5^7 = 0.0078 or 0.78%, so 7 losses in a role is expected. My average loss is 47 pts and 69 pts (backtest period, forward test period; HSI...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

Impossible as in having a 20% DD or not having a 20% DD? I trade HSI futures only, and yes, my lowest trigger is trend fellowing. System works on HHIF, but felt they are so correlated, I rather disvers throught with an extra day trade system, when the account is large enough. Initially...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

Agree on that, gonna decrease my max DD as time goes on. Aiming at some where in the middle between decreasing max acceptable DD, increase in required capital.

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

Thanks a lot for your advice. I trade very small lot standard HSI, but not the mini due to liquidity reason (volume about 8:1, HSI is as bad as it is). Can't split it smaller ... In someway I figure growing from 1:2 (done that), then 1:1.5, then 1:1.33 etc, will lessen possible DD...

How to avoid drawdown when you increase your position size?

Hi, Doubled my size two months ago, and hitted a drawdown period which wiped away some of the profit from the earlier trades. Along with the profits from my resent trading and additional capital, I can put on another 50% in size now and double that when my account grow another 15% (2...

E signal throught local data supplier. Trading from a quote screen is quite different from trading from charts, huh? My lowest trigger is an intraday signal, then I look at the 1 min chart along with the quote screen to see when I actrually push the buy/sell bottom, that's part of the...

Fill in the HSI is bad... I am a bit long term, so I most of the time I know will there be a signal 2 to 3 min before hand, so tape reading helps a lot. Used to get 3 pts slippage, but found that you can make it up on the exit or have a better entry if you just look at the tape...
