    Mastering the Four Fears

"The speculator's deadly enemies are: Ignorance, Greed, Fear and Hope." -- Reminiscences of a Stock Operator I'd also add 'ego' to that list. I've always found it interesting that hope is in the equation.. usually it has positive connotations but in this case it is quite negative and can...

    Buffett to give fortune away

Yeah I saw one part of the the series yesterday. It was kind of a biography of Buffett's life. Charlie had some clips of his prior interview with Buffett's late wife as well.

Anyone here "NOT" manage a HEDGE fund?

Yeah it does seem that everyone and their mom runs a HF nowadays. But there will always be the BIG players (SAC, Renaissance, Citadel, etc) with billions and huge money and the smaller ones with a few million. In HedgeHogging Biggs thought having raised "only" 600MM or so was tiny compared to...

Trading both sides of the market

Why two accounts? The only purpose I can see in doing this would be to avoid taxes for some time such as shorting against the box to lock in gains. Wouldn't trading both sides result in a net neutral position? Commission would also be a factor... If you were biased on one side, why not...

What do you trade? stock, option, index, future, forex? and why?

Don't mistake lack of understanding of a vehicle (or lack of an edge) as a valid reason not to trade it. That being said, I long and short US equities and am increasingly employing options in conjunction with my holdings because I feel comfortable in these vehicles and they suit my trading...
