Trapped in a Hall of Mirrors?

I am not defending Bush. I am simply appealing for unbiased, critical analysis. (Something hard to come by in this forum). To set the record straight regarding my personal opinion of Bush...I think he has been a failure as a president. But I think that failure is attributable to...

Trapped in a Hall of Mirrors?

I wondered about that, too. Here is the quote in context...from the transcript posted on the White House website: President Participates in Social Security Conversation in New York Now, a personal savings account would be a part of a Social Security retirement system. It would be a part...

Trapped in a Hall of Mirrors?

Res, Obviously those claims (of WMD's) were either wrongly construed or exaggerated. But if there were an ironclad case to be made that Bush & Blair had deliberately "lied about security threats for ulterior motives", the New York Times and every democratic in Congress would be making that...

Trapped in a Hall of Mirrors?

The only way to draw a rational conclusion is to base it on hard evidence...not conjecture. The Bush and Blair administrations have repeatedly lied about security threats for ulterior motives. Is this claim based on hard evidence? The evidence in support of point #2 is pretty unambiguous.

    "Why won't God heal amputees?"

Perhaps it is an idyllic notion...but I want to think that not all of human nature has been shaped by adaptive considerations aimed at simple survival. We have the seed of something beautiful within us. Perhaps all species do. The "kernel" is truth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth

    "Why won't God heal amputees?"

I was thinking of the 'kernel'. You know what the kernel is...brother.

    "Why won't God heal amputees?"

Agree. Perusing the isles of the local video store recently--and feeling like I was in a degenerate wasteland--I found myself thinking how remarkable some of those episodes were. To truly challenge the imagination--and the HEART--in a 60 min drama, is the mark of some quality art. What...

    A different state of mind

You can't keep throwing stones at a bear and not expect to get mauled once in a while. The sad part is that the Israeli military is faced with trying to remove a nearly inoperable cancer (hizbollah) that has deliberately and callously wrapped its tentacles around the weak and innocent. The...

    The Decaying of America.

SouthAmerica, I'm sure your cousin is a credible witness (being a graduate of a US university and all). :p But I must say--having spent the last 50 years living in this country--I see no evidence of an infrastructure meltdown. BTW...how are the roads and bridges holding up in South...

    A different state of mind

Is this what passes for victory...in the mind of a radical Arab? BEIRUT (Reuters) - Fierce fighting raged in Lebanon on Wednesday as an international conference opened in Rome on how to end Israel's 15-day-old war with Hizbollah guerrillas. Al Jazeera television said 13 Israeli soldiers...

Dr. Zhivodka...whoever YOU are, Perhaps you noticed "kid down the street" was in quotes (your words), and having a bit of fun was not in quotes (my words). (I hope you understand the concept. I think it was covered in 4th grade). BTW...you didn't answer my question. Where DID you grow...

By EDMUND L. ANDREWS New York Times, Published: July 9, 2006 WASHINGTON, July 8 — An unexpectedly steep rise in tax revenues from corporations and the wealthy is driving down the projected budget deficit this year, even though spending has climbed sharply because of the war in Iraq and the...

    "Why won't God heal amputees?"

but to be clear... by "god" i mean: the god of dogma...the god of human mythology. yet, the horizon of my own arrogance is this: i DO remain "humble before mystery". as Hamlet said to Horatio..."There are more things in heaven and earth than are even dreamt of in our...
