    Bitcoin and its vulnerabilities

The algorithm is very tamper-resistant, and the older the transaction, the more tamper-resistant it becomes. Today, to break one-day-old block of transactions would probably take more computing power than the world has.

Advice on New Desktop + TV as a Monitor

At some point, it becomes not about how much data/graphics you can display but how tiny those data/graphics are on the screen. Not everyone is 20 and has eagle eyes.

Advice on New Desktop + TV as a Monitor

Not all graphic cards support 3 monitors. If you want seriously cheap and pretty good monitor, you can go with something like this one Or even better, two of them :) Sceptre TVs have, historically, provided a dedicated monitor mode on them, that's why I'm stuck on recommending them. For...

https://www.babbel.com/en/magazine/language-most-words Basically, AFAIU if you count "real" words and not compound words that some languages allow by mashing together other words, or inflections (such as words modified by cases in Russian) English is pretty much accepted to have the largest...

Advice on New Desktop + TV as a Monitor

I used to use two 32" 1080 Spectre TVs - they have a "pixel for pixel" mode for VGA and and it looks pretty good. And at something like $120 each the price is hard to beat.

:) When I was a kid, I used to read the dictionary. Thesaurus is a better alternative, because you don't have to wade through the chaff to get to the gems. I am trying to get my 9-year-old to like esoteric English words too, so I made it a game. We learn new weird words (like sisyphean, or...

"Kukuruza" yes. Funny enough when I looked its etymology up, apparently it is probably from Rumanian "kukurus" - which is a pinecone?

    Test your vocabulary

Aquarians, English is fun because it has, by far, the biggest vocabulary out of all languages. When I read Russian (which is my native tongue) it is pretty rare that I come across a word I don't know, and it is usually a neologism that appeared in the last few decades. I also speak Hebrew...

    Test your vocabulary

Seriously? You're grumbling about other people's English vocabulary, rubbing the stubble on your face, while your self-confidence shrivels? Pastiche is a mixture of styles. You're clearly discomfited by your lack of English vocabulary and think it sullies your reputation? I don't have to be a...

Aquarians: come on. Step 1 is the simple words. The only thing I wouldn't check would be sedilous, vibrissae and uxoricide. Step 2. is also simple. - really "redolent" is the only one. I do have to admit I like obscure English words. Like "funambulist" (I think that was in step 3).

Montserrat, a Covid free paradise for digital nomads

I can see spending a month there. But not living there. You'd Why would you want to live on Montserrat? I can understand going there for a vacation, but live there? You can only snorkel and hike in the mountains so much - after a while, you will want something else, and there isn't.

Hilarious, trying once again fix the wealth gap. Been hearing this for decades....

You can't do an objective study that will be accepted by any significant % of decision makers. The issue is incredibly politicized.

    Yet another GME thought

This. Or they buy some game software co. I can't believe they didn't make any moves at all. They were thrown a huge lifeline and ignored it. You probably need a lot more than a few days of hyper-inflated-pricing of stock to do that. Well, yeah. But the premiums are huge both buying and selling...
