I Can Only Make Money In One Market

I'm sort of in the same boat with the draw down, except more like 30%. Best advice I've gotten is just try and keep it simple and focus on what you're good at. Wait for what you're looking for. It's just like a baseball hitter looking for his pitch. Cheers.

    First DITM Stock Replacement Buy

Without seeing the menu, the delta appears to be too high, let the gamma earn its keep. If you're certain on the direction, consider putting on a cheap strap straddle (5 to 1 or >). A little cheap insurance never hurt. Trust me, I know from experience. Cheers.

Why do traders lose more money on their losing trades than they make on their winning trades?

Thanks everyone for your “food for thought” on my post. I’m looking forward to a very productive 4th year as a full time swing trader

Why do traders lose more money on their losing trades than they make on their winning trades?

I've delegated myself to option collars, while looking for a weak link in weeklies.

Why do traders lose more money on their losing trades than they make on their winning trades?

I have been going through that losing thing for the last 8 months, and having a horrible time shaking it. Done lots of studying, pull back on $ amount traded etc. Any tips on how to shake it, please share. The crazy thing about it, for the first 2+ years, I could do very little wrong. It was...

4 ways your trades should end

Small wins, big losses, that pretty well sums up the past 8 months for me. Need some tighter b/a spreads, maybe then could start enjoying bigger wins and smaller losses. cheers!

Has anyone had success trading stock's earnings?--either before or after

There is an excellent book "Option Strategies For Earnings Annoucements" by Zhou and Shon. It informs the reader of what is more likely to work than not, with in depth analysis of past performances. It covers going both long and short. In my humble opinion, this is one of the better books out...

Why Only 10% of Stock Traders are Successful (and 90% Fail)?

Just from observing, I made it up.

Why Only 10% of Stock Traders are Successful (and 90% Fail)?

I think it's all about money management. Assuming your well versed on whatever your trading, if you don't know how to handle money, you're in big trouble. Think about all the companies that go under, it's not usually their widget, its poor money management. Too many traders think they're in the...

    Covered call mechanics

I would consider taking the 30% profit, especially if it's at a 52 wk high. Won't stay up forever. Watch the volume for a possible easing off the high. Check out some TA, like 200 sma's, candlesticks and microscope the fundamentals (especially cash flow statement) etc. Money can be reinvested...

    Pot stocks

We are having a federal election here in Canada, and this coming Monday is voting day. The leading party, which is not the incumbent, to form government is set to legalize pot. We already have medical pot, but that's nothing compared to mainstream. We have a few pot stocks on the TSE Venture...

United States, 11 Pacific Rim countries reach trade deal

The same thing happened in Canada. With NAFTA we lost our textile industry, completely. Good paying auto manufacturing jobs have gone to Mexico; how do you compete with $3 per hour? About an hour west of Toronto, they grow enough tomato's to sink a battleship; where do we get out tomato's...

Making my money work for me, what degree?

10 exams x $1100 each is, how much? Maybe buy yourself an "HP 17bII+" calculator to start. Cheers!

Day Trading Options - How to choose the right strike?

Concentrate on super tight bid/ask spreads, and understand implied volatility inside and out, and then the rest will come a lot easier to you.

Making my money work for me, what degree?

Skip the B/A, just go for your MBA. An accredited university, Heriot-Watt, lets you write the exams without a prerequisite. You'll learn how to handle money and get an even bigger raise. It used to be 10 exams, and maybe write 4 a year. Used to cost $1100 an exam. Do the math. If you're not...
