Coffee and Orange juice - long term outlook

Good post jb. Just another example of black swan events. Who would have thought a perfect storm would be brewing for the OJ shorts3 months ago ! Historical low options volatility, hist low OJ prices, low carb craze waning, 2 Cat 4-cat 5 hurricanes hitting FL in 2.5 weeks apart!

Coffee and Orange juice - long term outlook

If OJ capitulates the 1st day after a Cat 5 hurricane decimating the groves, this would be a classic example of good news /bad action. I would NEVER go long OJ again!Sorta like when Iraq invaded Kuwait, the fields are buring and gold only up a couple of $.

    Who's an Optionetics Grad?

All these criticisms from me about using the seminar approach vs. self-study is all moot if the person intructing will show a brokerage statement for at least 1 year 2003-2004 which shows their option trading pnl. Nuff said..

    Who's an Optionetics Grad?

A better ? would be to ask that lady if she can provide you with 3 people who have taken the course and got their $ back. As a business, I'd be proud to provide that since it shows that they are true to their word.

    Who's an Optionetics Grad?

Here is a cheaper probably as effective path than dropping k's in useless seminars. 1. Read the basic option books by Natenburg, Mcmillan WHILE charting what they teach in the books in a software package. Nothing beats hands on whle learning the theoreticals. For packages try optionstar...

    Who's an Optionetics Grad?

s-t-a-y- a-w-a-y Learn from books, trade 1 lots, take journals of the conditions (iv,hv,ggreeks) during trade open and do same for trad out. Learn from them. Go to trader book sites and sear ch for books by Mcmillan, Cottle, Natenburg. Keep your $.

Coffee and Orange juice - long term outlook

I think Rogers looks at the pricing of commodities from a holistic approach which takes into consideration supply/demand, the currency exchange, the economy of the diff countries. The problem is he is perenially bullish/ bearish for years which really doesnt do me any good. Sorta like Precther...

Coffee and Orange juice - long term outlook

Bro59 try this. watch the skew of oj calls when they flatten and when iv is reasonably low, buy call backspreads. OJ notoriety is its huge moves both up /down. It rarely "stair steps" 3 steps up/2 down-more like 8 up/1 down or vice versa. Watch technical ppoints and put your backspread there...

Coffee and Orange juice - long term outlook

I would'nt sell oj puts unless Iv are terribly high. There are 3 locals in that pit offeason and maybe 10 during winter season. They are going to rake you over the coals coming and going due to illiquidty. Best to put on limited risk spreads as a package so spreads won't be too bg. Good...

    RuleOne Capital

All I am saying is that there are better deals out there. However, much like anything else in business it is the package that counts. Training, software, reliability, fnancial viability all should factor in your decision. Search under pro firms , take notes, formulate your A-list then get out of...

That kinda deal reminds me of ETG deals way way way before Brights, Echo, Assent, Domestic, Hold, etc came into the picture.

May they rest in peace: dead firms

IB should not be affected in any way at all. They are a retail firm and as far the the prop side I don't think they take trader's deposit so there would be no $ to be reclassified from capital to liability..right?

Moving from J-trader to Strategy Runner ?

Hi all. I currently have a charting package , an execution platform, and would like to get a backtesting software and write an automated system. Been looking at tradebolt, strategy runner, and other add-on to IB's TWS. Would'nt Tradestation encapsulate all the above in a nice...
