Bush pardons Libby, panders to the hard right...

Didn't some of the jurists that convicted Libby encourage the president to pardon Libby? Going by some accounts they felt hamstrung by the instructions they were given in delivering the verdict but were very sympathetic to Libby's side. Personally I find some of the sentences for recent...

Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Did we read the same article? How do you figure he's dodging taxes? He's not criticizing the rest of society. He's criticizing current tax policy. Buffett is actively wondering why people like him aren't paying more as a percentage of income. He's implying he's willing to pay more in tax...

    Brazil and Nuclear Weapons.

As I said it's about ego. Brazil will become a superpower. China will become a superpower. India will become a superpower. Will Argentina, Japan, and Pakistan be willing to play second fiddle? Nah, they'll become superpowers too. Will Russia allow these upstarts to threaten its traditional...

Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Are you familiar with the issue of land reform in many developing countries? Maybe you should look it up. It is seen as one of the key reforms that successful developing economies have implemented that other less successful cases haven't. Basically land redistribution from the hands of...

    Brazil and Nuclear Weapons.

Using the same kind of rigid logic you are using southamerica a case can be made that any country that pursues nuclear weapons should be nuked preemptively before they do so. Perhaps the powers that be should lay waste to Brazil if it develops such ambitions? Personally I'm thankful the...

Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Was he lecturing people on their morality? I didn't get the feeling that was his primary purpose but I guess it is unavoidable when pointing out the logical discrepencies of the tax policies favored by the current administration. The purpose I stated was the raising of the standards of living...

Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Astonishing how people can come up with arguments against Buffett's position that end up by maligning him. Truly remarkable. Was he calling for the raising of taxes? He seemed to be pointing out the flawed logic of scrapping the estate tax. Are most of the people here members of the...

I thought this was a bullish hammer, but I guess I was wrong (pic)

So NihabaAshi where did you learn all this candlestick stuff? The way you talk about candlesticks, it's as if it has all been codified and categorized, a candlestick taxonomy if you will. I don't think the most commonly available references on the subject do that to the degree you have. Are...

As More Toys Are Recalled, Trail Ends in China

Seems like a concerted campaign doesn't it? So who could be behind it? Will these publicized drawbacks be enough to overcome the standard of living boost trade with China gives in the minds of people? Japan before wasn't about bargains the way China is today.

The Father of Scientific Climatology rips Al Gore's Movie.

Who is highly disputing it? What are their motivations? Do they have vested interests? Pretty much. Your butter margarine example is something to take note of but one cannot simply ignore a perceived problem as it is worsening based on the excuse that not everybody is on board especially...

The Father of Scientific Climatology rips Al Gore's Movie.

There was that hurricane that hit South America. Isn't supposed to happen. There was that graph showing steady increase in temperature over recent decades. Something is happening. Is man contributing to it? Does it matter if the consequences are catastrophic? Prudent thing to do is take...

Best Thing for U.S. Economy: Raise Taxes

It kind of begs the question though is the woman you are with willing to accept your current arrangement indefinitely? You can always say that when the time comes you can always move on to another but there are always tradeoffs. Same thing in a marriage of course but as in most things the...

Best Thing for U.S. Economy: Raise Taxes

You seem to overlook some of the main arguments made when divorce settlements are reached. It can be argued that many successful men would not have been as successful without their wives. For some of the other arguments try reading this...

A more powerful "ignore" feature needed

How does one do that? Are you talking about going through a proxy server designed for that purpose? From what I hear it makes websurfing real slow. Of course if they are really determined, trolls can still get through but at least it adds a layer of difficulty for them.

A more powerful "ignore" feature needed

Other moderated sites I am aware of simply ban the IP address of a troll. Of course there may be unwanted side effects but that is the usual procedure for dealing with intractable and incorrigible cases.

    I Have Done It Again

I don't have time for souped up sob stories like these especially when they come off as fake. Make a mistake once maybe people can have sympathy for you. Make same mistake twice: shrug. Make same mistake thrice: you are either completely incompetent, a self-destructive attention seeking...
