ES price at 930am eastern, at stocks open

The /ES will open at a level different from its Friday close. That's my call. ;)

    Cash crunch at CNBC

I gather they could save a few million bucks by eliminating the OctoBox(tm), half of their talking heads (who talk over each other anyway, so no loss), eliminating or downsizing their 'desks' at the NYSE/NASDAQ, and reducing the budget for onscreen special effects.

Russell 2000 - Brokers hunting stops!

I doubt it's your broker .... I think its more that /TF is just far more "jumpy" than the /ES in terms of the price action, so if you run a tight stop on the /TF you can get stopped out pretty quick.

Why is it illegal to lie to congress? This is the most asinine law ever.

Because Congress wants to reserve that privilege *all* for itself.....it can lie to us with impunity, but it doesn't go both ways. Me, bitter? :)

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

The sad thing is for my purposes for TDOS, if it wasn't for their horrid customer service in terms of letting folks know they're having problems WHEN THEY TRY TO ACCESS THEIR MONEY I think the platform is fine for my swing-trading / position-building purposes, though I miss having access to...

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

(from another thread here today) When Great Brands Go Bad: A Day in the Life of a Reluctant TD Ameritrade Customer http://www.chicagosean.com/2011/10/01/when-great-brands-go-bad-a-day-in-the-life-of-a-reluctant-td-ameritrade-customer/ Wish we could take the TOS platform somewhere else...

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

So I just fired off a few questions to Etrade just to settle my curiosity. They require you to enter a phone number to send an inquiry. Good thing I checked before clicking "send" -- "By entering my phone number, email address, and clicking the "Send Now" button below, I am expressly...

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

But will they acknowldge the problem to us? Probably not. Did they issue any sort of outage notification this morning? I don't think they did. Will we see a CEO-issued explanation/apology letter come after the close? Doubtful. Farewell, TOS. You were a wonderful place/platform to invest...

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

I thought MonsterOption or the "Najarian Bros Broker" was trying to fill up that void, but maybe not. I've not followed up on them since they launched a few years ago, though. OXPS is still my first choice alternate broker @ the moment. As I said, I may go back to them.

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

Even logging into TDA website my account data / watchlists /etc are unavailable. Whatever this is, it's not just the desktop client.

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

They used to even tell us when they had data feed problems. Very proactive customer support when they were TOS, which I appreciate. Past year or so after the merger was announced it's gone to hell. Very very sad. If a broker is having problems, especially if they claim to cater to active...

    TOS/TDA down again. :(

0940 ET the TOS Desktop locked up. Restarted and now can't get back in. No idea what the problem is *this* time. Ugh. The hits keep on coming. If I didn't hate OXPS charting and AIR platform I'd seriously consider going back to them at this point. ETA: As someone on Twitter just...

How are you preparing when the SHTF???

I was buying LEAPS SPY puts late last year (last Sep, actually) and building short positions going into this past Memorial Day weekend. After some initial doubts about timing early this summer they're all doing quite well and I've closed a few positions out already for nice gains. If I was...

    RIP Thinkorswim

Same thing happened to me years ago at OXPS when they had similar problems one day early in my trading days. I was comfortably long 2 /ES contracts and exited a position ... but the page never showed the order filling, so I redid the order. And again. I was on hold for like 25 minutes trying...

    RIP Thinkorswim

Not looking to leave (yet) but I have a cancelled order still showing up as in progress, so I don't know which way the order/trade is going or if it's been cancelled or not. Annoying.....though at least it's on a stock I wouldn't mind owning anyway.

Chartists: is the S&P going to break out of this wedge? (chart)

No, it's setting up to form a quantum singularity that will suck the markets into perpetual churn and eventual oblivion. Oh, wait.... ;)

Do not sit down...stand up while trading...

I hit the gym at 1100 every day. On days when I'm trading, this then segues into my time-to-run-errands during the midday session. By 1:30 or 2PM I'm back at my desk for the remainder. But of course, I don't stare at the charts continuously, either. That said I also switch between an...

I don't know the COMPANY name, but I think the symbol is XLF. ;)

Yup. 5.9 here in DC. 30 seconds of sheer WTF for me but nothing more than that.

19.57% dividend yield and + cash flow???

Seeing so many articles about mREITS on SA and in the financial news in recent weeks, I'm very leery of entering into them right now as anything other than a speculation that might pay me something along the way. Based on media/commentary levels alone, the mREIT thing almost feels "bubble-ish"...
