IC on DNDN = safer play?

    LOL -- I just saw the ask/bid. Neeeevermind. :)

IC on DNDN = safer play?

I considered something like that --- OTM bull put spread 7.5/12 (front month) Buy ATM long calls front month That way the calls are paid for by the profits from the spread...but given my relative inexperience with spreads, I dont want to get TOO complicated or keep track of too many...

IC on DNDN = safer play?

Actually after doing some more homework, I'm looking more at a bull put spread that's very OTM. With the IV on this position, it seems to be a safe bet. MAY 7.5/12 puts give a decent profit with a nice landing zone and at an acceptable level of conservative risk.

IC on DNDN = safer play?

Thinking about it, I have been. Not sold on the concept, am I still. Very happy with his March profits, for sure. :)

IC on DNDN = safer play?

Any thoughts about placing an IC on DNDN going into next week's FDA meeting? I'm thinking VERY conservatively in terms of generating some possible income on this astronomical IV position, and wonder if the large "landing zone" created by an IC would be better than something like a DITM call...

CNBC woes - am I alone in my anger?

Is it me, or is CNBC pandering to the masses and not the business world these days? I don't get Bloomberg here in Arlington, VA yet, and am stuck with CNBC. But I'm getting to the point where I'd want to, because CNBC is really getting annoying as "background news" during the day. (Thank...

    Spreads and expirations question

Demoship --- the very words I live (and trade) by, epecially when trying something new!

    Spreads and expirations question

Oh, I agree, stick with what works. But as always, there can be variance between paper-trading and real-trading, so I wanted to solicit a sanity check from those more seasoned than lowly me. :)

    Spreads and expirations question

While I've done successful paper trades involving spreads, I've not done "real" spreads yet using real money. I used range-limited stocks -- GE, BA, S, WTR -- and entered into the spread positions (bull put spread, butterfly) the week if not day or two before expiration. In all cases, I came...

    Software

This has been an interesting and helpful thread. That said, has anyone come across options-trading/strategy software that works on MacOSX? I've just started dabbling with the ToS product that I downloaded over the weekend, but curious what else might be available --- especially since I'm...

    Option activity at market open?

Say a stock is up dramatically in pre-market. On a few occasions recently, I've placed buy orders for current or future-month calls on an equity a few minutes before the market opens --- and to my surprise, the order got filled either at the closing price from the previous day, or very close...

DNDN tripled in 1 month, high IV; how to play?

Yeah, I made out well with the first DNDN "fun" that Friday --- but I'm very hesitant about getting back into the game right now. There's a ton of volitility and SO much conflicting opinion on the pos.....and the Yahoo board is an absolute cesspool as well, but kind of amusing to skim when...

Bull Put Spreads - Controlled Risk/Return

Yow! That's a pretty slick program.....I'm mucking around with the demo now.

Bull Put Spreads - Controlled Risk/Return

Yes, credit. Fat-fingered the original post. Risky in terms of early assignment on the put? Yes, that's sure a possibility. I'm not 100% set on that particular spread, but it seemed to give a fair degree of "wiggle room" just in case there was any downward-facing action between now and...

Bull Put Spreads - Controlled Risk/Return

You got me. :) I had done so well with my DNDN long calls the last week that I am debating trying a basic spread out this time in a relatively low-risk manner. Obviously DNDN's IV is high as a kite, and its returns wouldn't be anywhere like it might be for a lower-IV range-bound position...

Bull Put Spreads - Controlled Risk/Return

I've spent most of the past few evenings reading up on spreads, and my local Borders' is quite happy with my patronage...the Cohen books are rather well-written and easy to follow, explaining much to me. Also, this forum has also been a big help in getting some additional insights along the...

Oh, no worries -- I would NOT use that much my first time out!

Newbie spreads question - profitable entry?

Bingo. I forgot the strategy scanner was P&L at expiration....I was only looking at it in terms of strike price and totally-disregarding the matter of time decay. Thanks!

Newbie spreads question - profitable entry?

After reading through my broker's site and various other sources of information, I'm ready to 'take the plunge' and try my hand at a spread or two after a while of doing simple call/put options trading. Using my broker's Strategy Scan to generate some ideas, I came across something that...

    Trading the exchanges

Yah, that's what I figured, but given some of their wild price swings, I figured I'd ask anyway. :)
