    Fetching option data in R

I assume you mean options chain? If so, unfortunately, yahoo does not provide the data directly in .csv format as it does with equities. One approach you can try that works is to go to http://www.cboe.com/DelayedQuote/QuoteTableDownload.aspx download the ticker chain you want and then...

Be very careful with your ATM cards

speaking of which, let's just say this isn't the first incident (nor bank) of something happening like below... http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-budgeting/article/109237/if-you-were-billionaire-for-five-hours When Paul Fischer checked his bank account Friday night, he had a happy surprise...

Has anybody tried Neural Networks? Does it work?

I think you misunderstand. Correlation is one type of relationship; a very simple, linear, and limited one at that. There is no need to limit yourself to linear relationships, nor non-lead/lagged relationships for that matter.

    Problem with PC

If you happen to have another computer handy, you could TRY to add the drive as a secondary and 1st) see if you can access the drive itself off your 2nd computer, problem free; in addition, run scans with malaware or another good AV, maybe combofix. 2nd) If that is good, try literally...

    Problem with PC

try booting in safe mode. I've literally had a blue screen of death, and found out it was a virus which was repairable.

Has anybody tried Neural Networks? Does it work?

Suppose you did a scatterplot of many different instruments (sometimes known as draftsman's plots) showing correlations. Ok, and in a perfect world they were all straight lines. Well, believe it or not, this type of research is prominent in financial quantitative circles (see BARRA/factor...

Ohio House passes bill to require GPS in all vehicles

I've read a few reports stating that they removed camera restrictions due to 1) Lack of revenue because of less violation tickets (showing the importance of safety on the scale of relevance). 2) In other areas, they actually created more accidents due to drivers stepping on the brakes out of...

Has anybody tried Neural Networks? Does it work?

One of the things covered in that blog was precisely the need for data filtering. You are already ahead of 99% of the crowd in finding a useful requirement. Congrats on that. Keep in mind there are also many ways to filter, some better than others. I've found other applications where...

    Trader Reporting Software

Can you display an example of what it currently tabulates? And what do you plan to charge? Also, you mentioned excel; is it written in VBA? If it is backend only, what do you require as inputs (format, attributes?).

American women can be charged 50% more for health insurance under Obamacare

Where exactly do you get this fact that there is a cap on what insurers can charge men or women? All I know from factual experience, is that they could raise ann prems 40-70% (gender unspecific) even before the plan was enacted. What I'd like to know is where in the passed plan places any...

    Engineers Please advise

Good Luck with your approach. Have a look at the FFT pitfalls here for a more 'engineering' oriented viewpoint. http://intelligenttradingtech.blogspot.com/2010/02/fft-of-time-series-promises-and.html

    Engineers Please advise

That simple. No matter how whiz bang you want to make it, it's not necessary. Only reason you would divide by 3 is to force the vertical amplitudes to be bounded to that scale of -1 to 1, but you could just as easily leave it alone, or normalize to any other scale.

    Engineers Please advise

Very simple. Either Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, or apply any combining function you can think up. The first four are the most common techniques employed. A more proper way to address the question, is how does one combine different sine waves to synthesize one complex sine series? If...
