Two more questions: For those that are CTA's or CPO's or both, which is the structure you favor the best? Also, if one has an LLC as the management/GP of a CPO, can that be used as well as the management co of a CTA? Or would u need to separate management co's?

Ok, but they don't need a series 3...just registered with the NFA and pay dues?

Another question, if a person has part ownership in the management company of an CPO or CTA, but is just an equity investor and had nothing to do with trading, etc...are they required to be registered?

I sent ya a PM on this, but does the $25k audit/tax include sending out K1's to investors? Also, can the fund pay for data feed/software, even health care before management fees as well?

Thanks heech! Doesn't the fund also pay for your monthly expenses (does that come out of the management fee, or can the the fund pay it)? I have experience with Rothstein Kass and they are top notch. I am assuming it will cost $75k a year to run the CPO, they way you have it setup...about right?

Great..thanks! The reason is if a CTA could allocate just profits is for a smaller account (which would make the CPO a better route), because for my % risk per trade, min. acct would need to be $250k to allocate on a trade basis. Lastly, from your experience, what has been the cost to run...

Thanks Aaron. I think I would want an LLC for the management co for legal protections, and my partner in our LP would be part owner of the LLC. Starting out thou, it seems to go with the CTA route, then maybe the CPO route? What I would do it start the management co., and then manage our LP...

I am looking into all the pro's and con's with a CTA vs. a CPO vs. a LP. First of all, a CPO is a hedge fund, correct? It's just an LP like a hedge fund. But, could one just do a hedge fund and not have to register with the NFA, etc? What I do is managed futures and currencies. Swing trade...

Yes, u r correct...30 year is better, and I plan on starting shorts on that the first of the spring 2010. Guberment can manipulate the short end of the curve, but cannot the long end. Cheers!

Another $1.1 Trillion spending bill passed tonight December 13th, 2009

It's all INSANE! The avg salary for a guberment worker bee is $71k....private sector is $41k. Our Founding Father's are rolling in their graves on this one. 2010 can't get here quick enough!! Guberment is for the people...not to take control and dictate and spend us into hell!

The is a liquidity driven rally....yes it will end at some point. You start shorting the market when TARP ends...we are talking Oct next year...so summer 2010. With the amt of $$ the fed is printing, you have to own assets (assets go up when you push more $$'s into the system). Price the market...
