IB retail pit access or not ???

I've never had an account large enough to trade SPs until I started with IB...but they haven't had them. Very interesting.....does the same apply to RL and ER2? What about MD and EMD? That could save me some commissions....I like to leg out of positions....buy one SP then counter with ES...

IB retail pit access or not ???

How does that work? Will your position be cleared overnight and you'd be flat? Doesn't seem possible..... I understand within a small tolerance each of the positions would offset the other one, but are they completely fungible?

IB retail pit access or not ???

Wow good question....that should be on the FAQ for pit-trading. SSB

IB retail pit access or not ???

I just tried to add pit-trading permissions in my FA subaccount and got this error: You have reached the limit on number of fee based accounts. Has anyone seen that error before? Note I'm using a friends and family FA account with no fees charged, and the sub-account is my own...

IB retail pit access or not ???

Being a pit trader is the same as being given a license to steal, plain and simple. I'm sure there are some honest traders out there, but being in a position where you make a trade, then can wait a minute or two to see where prices went before deciding if the trade will be your own trade or a...

IB retail pit access or not ???

Check out "Pit Bull" by Marty Schwartz if you want some more stories about pit trading. The idea behind "dual-agent" brokers is that they can trade for you and for themselves at the same time without giving any bias to the order they use in placing orders. The reality is they will screw you...

Can I buy mutual funds through IB?

mutual fund transactions tend to involve manual processing, which is what I think makes IB avoid them.....

    1099 Total Proceeds #

Thanks GA. I wish IB would put together an FAQ on this.... SSB

    1099 Total Proceeds #

OK, I just hope I don't run into trouble because the proceeds don't match. I've already got them all broken out, I'm just concerned they'll audit me because of the options trades. Not much I can do though..... SSB

    1099 Total Proceeds #

I noticed that options sales are not reported in the 1099 gross proceeds number, but from what I understand they do belong on schedule D. So my number will not match the 1099 number from IB. Any idea how to reconcile that?

    IB Market Data question

Actually I meant search on elitetrader for it to find the discussions about it. Personally I don't recommend the dual wan router -- it's still a single point of failure and if it goes down you lose net connectivity anyway. I have two routers each plugged into my 2 ISP connections so if one...

Do *you* hedge against a total *intraday* market crash?

I've read it was margin calls in March 2000 that dropped the Nasdaq 30% in a few weeks. Not sure since it wasn't my margin calls but it seems reasonable.... Not much you can do in that case....except not get in the position in the first place

    IB Market Data question

There are many threads about backup ISPs and other kinds of failover you can set up and use. try a search for dual wan router. I've seen it mentioned many times here, having a backup broker and therefore the ability to offset open positions if your connection goes down is a very good idea...

    IB Market Data question

IB certainly does have some customer service issues, but at the same time I've been using them for over a year without any real problems. I do have an advisor account and I've found the "pro" customer service people to be a bit better than average, but it's hit and miss like I've had with other...

    IB's Trouble tickets

Unless it's specific to a trade or to your account, for most general questions you're better off posting the question here than opening a TT. I opened a ticket to find out info about pro fees in an LLC sub-account (under a FA account), the response I got ignored the question and said "yes you...
