Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

I don't notice any delay but please keep in mind that I'm using mine to switch the video too and the LCD monitor takes a second or two to auto-sync but as soon as the display comes up the keyboard and mouse are fully functionally (no delay) I just ran an unscientific test to see if I could...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

I've had no problems using a mouse scroll wheel with the IOGear unit I mentioned earlier (http://www.buy.com/prod/iogear-miniview-micro-usb-audio-kvm-switch-2-port/q/loc/101/10383829.html)

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

The ones I've used have a hotkey, the linksys unit works by pressing the control-key twice to switch back and forth between the two. There is a physical switch on the unit to switch but its tucked into my desk so I never use that.

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

Maybe so but I think for some things hardware is the appropriate solution. When using a software solution how do you deal with the issue of controlling the non-attached machine when the OS isnt loaded (system booting) or is misbehaving? I can see having to get out a spare keyboard and...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

The soho KVM's I've used are from Linksys (non-USB, Linksys #KVM2KIT ) and IOGear (IOGear MiniView Micro USB Audio KVM Switch - 2 Port ) Both are 2 port units. I have not seen any compatibility issues with any keyboards or mice; I am using a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse (MX700) with...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

The only delay I ever experience is when I use two computers with difference resolutions and my LCD monitor has to auto-adjust between the two. In situations where you arent using one monitor for both this wouldnt be an issue. There is no delay otherwise, you hit whatever hotkey the KVM uses...

Share a keyboard and mouse without sharing the monitor

Its one "cable bundle" that is made up of the two separate cables. The monitor and USB cables are compeltely separate, they are not sharing the same wires (that would be a very expensive implementation) The device couldnt care less if you dont use the monitor portion, at least that is the...

Exactly. OP, is there some reason why this won't work for you?

Use neighbor's unsecured WiFi as backup connection?

EVDO Security : http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-1009-6004489.html Short answer: Definitely more secure then WiFi but any wireless connection is subject to attacks, its just a question of how much time/effort someone wants to spend defeating it. I've never heard of an EVDO...

    Cyberpower PC?

Exactly what do you think that "local guy" uses in his PC's to make them so special? Is he manufacturing his own processors? his own memory chips? his own motherboards? his own hard drives? PC's are commodity items and Dell uses quality components, period.

Use neighbor's unsecured WiFi as backup connection?

Easy enough to check, connect to his wireless and do a traceroute (tracert) to any internet address - you should be able to tell right away from the first few hops which ISP you are connected through. Or just go here http://www.whatismyip.com/ and then do a "whois" on the IP address that is...

    Cyberpower PC?

I have to side with gnome on this. This is all anecdotal but I use Dell's at home and work: laptops, desktop and servers and my experience has been excellent. Everything runs rock solid (and my machines run 24/7 as well) I don't doubt your experience mschey but I think if you look at...

Trading 5000 blocks, still use IB?

I know nothing about them other then what's in this thread but have you considered SogoInvest Elite? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=88791 From what it written there your trade would only cost $1.5 instead of $10 or $50.

    MBTrading Quote Server Frequent Disconnects

Yea, I can pretty much predict when it will happen, exactly as you said, FOMC announcements, during heavy trading periods and news announcements but today there seemed to be more lags and disconnects then the news/volume warranted. Thanks for your feedback.

Is it just me? Does everyone else using MBT having the same disconnects - I can't believe how bad its gotten lately. This is what my Alerts window looks like today:

    Gigabit Router

nitro, you may very well be right about needing the security plus license to configure dual ISP support, I haven't tried it myself as I don't have two ISP connections currently. That would raise the cost substantially for the ASA solution. I agree with your earlier point that most traders...
