The Beauty of Options - Portfolio Insurance at a Discount

Just browsing Dest history has taught me quite a bit very quickly. Enough to go try some setups in the sim, hit google and fuck around. Nobody worth their salt gets the fish put on the hook. conventional and unbalanced flies, diagonal, local vs implied vol from dest. Local via the PowerPoint...

The Beauty of Options - Portfolio Insurance at a Discount

Without taking sides, I see dest having provided a lot of real trades over time and Bobby showing a single strategy, and not going to comment on his strategy other than it looks overly complicated. But I don’t think Bobby wins in a competition . I just don’t see it happening.

Destriero vs. Sweet Bobby Trading Challenge

It’s not a loan. You simply don’t get penalized for the early withdrawal and then you pay the ordinary income taxes over three years. 1/3, 1/3, 1/3. Not a loan.

    Spread not filling

Rudimentary question i am sure. I’m trying to buy a butterfly which is -.40x1.20 give or take and I am moving my limit up periodically to be better to the offer side and usually you will get filled if you’re better than midpoint but not happening today some other disclosures are it’s...

Buying options and avoiding crush during times of high vol

Buying options and avoiding crush during times of high vol

simple answer is to trade directionally, ideally To play breakouts, so Vol will Compress and then have a target and get out when you reach it. You’re not Soros, don’t get cute.

Synthetic stock (buy call & sell put) - can you get assigned or not?

There are really only a couple of reasons I can think where you would want to do this. The first is that for some reason, you don’t want to have a futures account. Secondly is that you cannot have a futures account. I fall into the second category. I think that if you’re of those two camps...

bingo. 100% on point. Although, you don’t have to get up at the table, just keep folding until the hand is good enough to play. You can bet small until you figure out your most successful particular set of hands that you like to play. I love triangles for instance. And good pullbacks onto trends.

Synthetic stock (buy call & sell put) - can you get assigned or not?

Nothing I said is invalid. Here, I’ll put it another way. Do you get more or less naked exposure by being short a put instead of long the underlying stock? More. So how could that possibly work out against you overnight, say any day in March, with the market lock limit down overnight given your...

Synthetic stock (buy call & sell put) - can you get assigned or not?

Being long a call does nothing for you when you’re exercised on a short put

Synthetic stock (buy call & sell put) - can you get assigned or not?

I can do the “money in / money out” T-chart too. Which you did wrong by the way. Did you somehow buy a call ATM for no premium? The truth is, you’re not trying to get long the stock, otherwise you would just sell a put. Instead, you’re trying to get massive leverage in the call by financing it...

Synthetic stock (buy call & sell put) - can you get assigned or not?

If the stock is at 48 and he wrote his 50 put at $1 he is getting exercised. Being wrong on the long side is bad enough, getting exercised to the short side will have you jumping out a window. If you don’t have excellent directional success you’re going to blow up doing this.

Hang in there my dude. Experience is the best teacher to settle nerves. It’s almost impossible to trade successfully without the real experience of PnL, and recurring results in your personal style. For me personally, adrenaline is also my worst enemy.
